Hi all - This forum area is intended to complement our Topic Support article 'Ourselves' - the first in a series of articles concentrating on particular topic and activity ideas, including downloadable focus plans for each area of learning. As with the other Topic Support articles the idea is that you pop your own ideas into this resource bank, and take other peoples' ideas out, and use the article to stimulate those ideas. Hope you find it useful!

Hello, Need help please? I need to come up with a creative activity that incorporates the 5 senses. An idea I have come up with is using shaving foam, as using their noses to smell and their fingers for touching, and eyes to look at. I would like something that includes more senses in one activity. Could anyone help me please?. Hopefully you wonderful people will be able to give me some ideas, I hope Thankyou.

Hi, We're doing sense of taste - a tasting activity. Looking to explore what children like and dislike and the 4 groups of bitter, sour, sweet and salty. I was wondering what foods teachers have used for bitter and sour - Is lemon bitter or sour or both? was going to also do crisps for salty, chocolate/banana for sweet. Any ideas really appreciated. Thank you

Hi everyone, I've been a member for a while but this is my first post so hope i'm doing it right! Our first Reception Topic in September is 'Getting To Know You' with the first week focusing particulary on 'Names' then we will be moving on to the usual things such as 'What I look like', 'Body Parts', 'My Family' etc. The only activity I have thought of so far for the first week back is glitter names (children to write names with PVA Glue pens and then to apply glitter). Can anyone help me out? The children are only in for half days during the first week so I shouldn't need to many activities!

There are some fantastic activity ideas on here but I am struggling to find ideas for provision. Can anyone help me or direct me to somewhere for ideas? They would be much appreciated!!

I am looking to purchase the original Elmer book in "Big Book" format to support our children in this topic, however I can only seem to find the normal size book! I've looked online in all the normal places, and I am having no joy! Does anybody out there know where I can purchase the big book!!! Thanks all! Melanie
