National Data

Is there anywhere I can get national data to compare my cohort against? I am looking for data for each scale point in each subject area. This is my first year in FS and the school is being moderated because of poor collection of data. Last year, there were scale points in most subject areas where no children at all scored. Having spoken to the Y1 teacher and looked at my children this year, this does appear to be a "filling in" problem rather than a blip with the cohort. So the EY Adviser says I need to be looking really carefully at the areas with 0 scores last year. But the headteacher is itchy that this will give us a too high overall score (which was the p…

E Profile Help!
by Guest- 3 replies

I've just finished inputting our end of year data, I clicked 'All Done' and it says I have some errors as some children have achieved ELGs before SS. In the FSP handbook it says "Most children will achieve all of these three points before they achieve any of the early learning goals, but there may be some exceptions to this pattern." Is this still right? My issues are related to SEN children and a couple of children who are so quiet and shy they have probs communicating. I thought it was OK to give these children these higher points but the e profile has made me doubt myself. Can someone reassure me or put me right??! Thanks!

Hi everyone I haven't been on for a while but I could do with some help. At the moment myself and the two reception teachers are trying to create our own foundation stage profile format. We have discovered that the booklets are no longer being produced and one member of our team isn't comfortable in using the eprofiles. I was wondering if anyone has any formats that we could look at? We are thinking of an A3 sheet with the ELG written across for each area to highlight when achieved. Any advice would be great. Thanks so much Jayne

Hi I don't know if this is the rightplace to post but anyway....... I now use the electronic version of the Foundation Stage Profile and no longer fill in all the books by hand. However myhead teacher wants a printed version of something to record children's progress throughout Year R. I know you can print from e-profile but what would people recommend - it seems silly to print the whole booklet out.

Hi My adviser told me last week that I can download the e-profile on the main office computer and then put the info on a memory stick and use it wherever is best for me and that I just need to update the main computer regularly! However I had been told in the past that this was not advisable as the info can corrupt easily! Does anyone have any words of wisdom? Thanks in anticipation!

Silly Questions

Hello everyone! I have just read some of the earlier discussions on the e profile and am beginning to panic - I can't access my foundation stage profile because it is not linked to SIMs and i have never used it before so haven't a clue what I am doing. What should i be putting into it, by when and how? I am using professional judgment for most of evidence - I do write down some obs. Is that enough? I don't know about foundation stage being moderated- by whom and when? ALso what is being moderated this year- didn't understand the abbreviation's. really sorry about my stupidity but not been in foundation stage for a number of years and it has all changed since teaching…

If there are any schools out there using the CMIS Facility Management Information System software, you can now use the Foundation Stage V2 assessment recording template to record FSP assessments. This enables you to record by half term (as in eProfile). Schools in Birmingham should already have been invited to training on how to use this system. If there are any school in other parts of the country using CMIS who have not been made aware of this new functionality and would like some training on how to use it, please email me. I've just been reading about some of the ways people have been recording and colour coding levels reached by pupils on sheets of paper …
