Suitable Person?
by Guest- 7 replies

Just wondered if anyone else who works in a CC could help me out here? We have a PVI playgroup that operates from one of the rooms- 4 full days each week- in our centre. The playgroup manager is leaving at Christmas, so we need another suitable person. Can this be an existing staff member from the CC who DOES NOT work in the playgroup room, of does it have to be somebody who will be in the room with the staff and children all the time? Thanks for any help.

Hi, I am new in post at a children's centre and wondered if other children's centres have a planning format that they use in each session. Also how (if at all) do you monitor and track children? Any ideas would be welcome!!

Now it's getting chillier, we don't always want to have water, especially in our outdoors, has anyone got a list of interesting alternatives that we could fill the tray with so it's interesting but not cold or damp! Thanks

Hi I am a T.A 2 (bottom level pay wise) and have been asked to be responsible for the planning for Nuture Nursery and Creche's and key worker for 12 children. Is this the normal expectation in a CC of a T.A? Dont want to kick up a fuss but the role appears different to job discription given with my contract I'm not the sort of person who says "its not on my JD so i am not doing it!!"but feel a bit put on to be honest Any advice please??? x

Hi, Could anyone share their thoughts and ideas on keeping notes on children that attend stay and play type sessions. We would like to note down what children are doing and make some brief notes on what we coild provide for them for the next session to extend their learning. However, with only one person running as group is seems almost impossible especially as children dont always come every week. Does anyone make notes on children or am i just trying to do the impossible? Help!!

Developing Leadership In Children's Centres

I've just finished watching a DVD that landed on my desk, produced by the CWDC in partnership with the National College for School Leadership. It includes footage from a focus group set up to discuss the relationship between EYPS and NPQICL and how the two roles and sets of skills are similar/different. It introduces the concept/process of Appreciative Inquiry as a tool for enabling practitioners to reflect on their current practice, identify what works well and design ways in which to develop those aspects of their practice in order to improve outcomes for the children and their families more effectively. It's a very interesting "watch" and I'm assuming that the DV…

Ofsted Inspections In Cc's
by Guest- 4 replies

Hi all, hope you are enjoying the holiday if you are off. OFSTED website at the moment has an online consultation form with regard to inspecting cc's. It takes about 5 mins to complete and I did it as it may be only chance we who actually work in them get to have any say. I have used the comments section to voice my concerns that under latest ofsted inspections in schools from sept 2009- section 8's I think they are now-schools and teachers will now be back to having more individual lesson observations. My concern is that if cc's are inspected in same way, I really don't think it's appropriate to observe and grade practitioners interacting with children through c…
