Hi Everyone, I am a cct at a phase 2 children's centre just starting Baby EEL project. I am co-ordinating it between our private provider nursery (2-4yrs), LEA nursery (3-4s on 15hrs perweek starting from September), creche which we run for parent education groups and then stay and play drop ins. At the moment I am trying to do the physical environment form and background forms. I wondered if anyone else had co-ordinated the project in this way at another children's centre and would be able to talk to me about it. I have my mentor in for her first visit in the morning and although I have done quite a lot of the two forms everytime I start on them they seem to expand..…

Summer Creative

Hi, As we are in working all through the Summer, I was wondering if anyone could share any simple creative ideas with me. We are a daycare setting (for children 6 - 50 months)and would love to do more collaborative creative stuff with the messsage being that: ' It is the process which is important and not the end product' ( hopefully getting away from the awful photocopied and coloured stuff!) Love to hear of any ideas. Thanks Sunshine

Hi All I had an interview recently for a teacher in a children's centre. I didn't get the job because they said I hadn't given good enough answers about how I would reach "hard to reach families". Not quite as brutal as that of course. Can anyone enlighten me on the sorts of things they do? Thanks all.

Ante-natal group We (Children’s centre and Health Visitor) are holding a monthly ante-natal group in our cluster area, sometime we get 3 people some time no one appears. Does anyone have any good practice they would like to share? We have advertised, the Health visitor informs all the mum’s who are about to give birth .etc. All our other groups have a good attendance and people always say they would have liked a group like this when they were pregnant. Stumped at what to do next? Sam

Abandoned Ofsted Inspection
by Guest Wolfie- 22 replies

Well I've had a new experience this week, persuading Ofsted inspectors to abandon their inspection of our Centre! On Monday, our Head of Centre had a phonecall from Tribal (contracted by Ofsted to carry out inspections) to say that two inspectors would be carrying out a Section 5 inspection of our Centre today. I pointed out that a Section 5 is a SCHOOL inspection and that we needed to question whether it should take place - we are an early years setting and should have a no-notice inspection. To cut a very long story short, the lead inspector insisted that they were right and that the inspection would go ahead. So we submitted the requested paperwork - our CHIL…
