by Guest- 4 replies

Just wondered if your centre lends parents books etc and how you monitor it/ensure you get them back? We are thinking of making activity bags that contain games or stories but any other ideas gratefully received. We don't have the space for a toy library at present

Somewhere on the site there was a discussion about a CCt who had to give a presentation to staff at the centre about their role? I have tried searching but no luck? Any ideas anyone?

I did a secondment last term as outreach teacher in a CC, felt like I was chasing my tail a lot, it got me to thinking though, and I wondered how many CC teachers do we have here (those that would like to own up anyway!!). And it would be nice to know what your roles are beginning to look like? What do you actually do, and what sort of problems are you having? Over to you then.

I've been on an absolutely fab course at Early Excellence today, run by Marion Dowling - Monitoring Provision in the EYFS...so many ideas, my head is spinning! If anyone is wondering whether to book on it, do!! Anyway, Marion mentioned that Ofsted were due to publish a new inspection framework for Children's Centres in October but that she hadn't seen it yet...has anyone else?

I am part of a team working on developing an induction pack for CC teachers. Those of you in post, what do you wish you had really known before you started and as you settled in to the job? Thanks

I just feel like I should know so many more answers than I do. The people in the Nursery I'm attached to have more experience of working with young children than me - I have only taught Reception classes. Whilst I know the FS curriculum inside out I just feel like I'm not qualified for this job. I have moved LEA's for the job and of course this LEA works comletely differently to mine and is piloting projects that I have never heard of - people are asking me for advice on these and I don't know the answers! I know they only had a couple of applicants and had real trouble recruiting so I am just worried that I've go tthe job before I'm ready and I should have worked …
