I provide Foundation Stage support to a Children's Centre - they've been contacted by Ofsted today to say that they will be coming on February 6th. Does anyone know why they've been given so much notice? I thought ALL Ofsted visits were unannounced now?

The Role Of The Teacher In Children's Centres

I've just booked myself onto a course run at the Early Excellence Centre in Huddersfield entitled "The role of the Teacher in Children's Centre". It's a two day course, with a gap of about a month inbetween the two days, and looks very interesting. I guess we have to do a bit of work/thinking/etc between the two days? Anyway, I though it might be of interest to others? The course that I'm on (March-April) might be full now I think but it's being repeated in the summer term if anyone else wants to go. I just think that our role seems to vary so much and any kind of central guidance and traning has to be a good thing! The Centre has its own website but my lack o…

I have worked in a Children's Centre before. I had a fantastic experence working with the under 2's and being looked after to a point where I saw a postive attutude towards looking after their staff well and taking any problems they had were delt with quckly. I have also worked in day nurseries in the private sector and found that their attutude towards their staff were completetly different as I have just been remided why I left working in this sort of setting on a pemenate basis this morning (see my other post in the lounge for details). Relecting upon my expereinces in childcare I have noticed a great deal of differences in attutde between each sector. I w…

Can I ask how all those teachers who work in CC manage their holidays. I know teachers usually get 13 weeks a year but some teachers now also work in CC that are open 48/50 weeks a year.

Relocation Of A Pre-school
by Guest- 6 replies

Hi, I,m new so no idea if this works as being chronologically challenged ( whoops, not allowed to refer to age ) am not too well versed in the minefield of computer technology. Query.....Has anyone experienced relocating their Pre-School, Playgroup or Nursery to a school site? Our current building is situated on a Playing field and is, sadly, on it's last legs. The Parish Council who own the land are not keen on maintaining or rebuilding so our days are numbered. The local primary school and authorities are keen for us to move to the school site, but where do we start? How do we get our hands on big bucks? Who do we approach for funding etc? Where do we find a…

Hi, I am a Foundation Stage co-ordinator in a school and from March 2007 we will have a Children's centre attatched to our school. I currently have responsibility for 42 Reception aged children with 2 TA's and 1 LSA as well overall responsibility for FS Unit which has 8 staff (2 of which are teachers/ 1 being me!) and have a 2b TLR. I have known for a little while that I would also be expected to be the QTS input into the Children's centre because the Nursery teacher is an NQT. However, I was led to believe that I would recieve some extra salary for this as well as release time to fulfill role. After a meeting that we had yesterday I have found out that …
