Just Got A Cc Job :)

Hello to all you lovely CC people. I am a teacher and have been teaching for 11 years, 7 years EY. I have now got a job in a CC (as a CC worker). I am feeling a bit apprehensive, although it is really what I want to do, as school is so structured and I know exactly where I am with that. I was hoping you could give me some ideas as to what would be useful to know before I start my new job and if there are any good books to read. Thanks

Full Core Offer

I would be very grateful if someone could explain full core offer to me. I had thought that phase 1 centres were full core offer and it meant that the CC was in a very deprived area and they had a teacher and probably daycare on site. BUT I was talking to the manager of a phase 3 rural centre who told me they had just got full core offer, so now I am totally confused!!!

I have worked in a variety of childcare and education settings over the last 15 years and have a good knowledge of EYFS and planning to meet children's individual needs. Some of the children's centres I have visited seem to be like a nursery/preschool/classroom having activities for each area eg water tray, sand, dough, writing area etc - which seem to be decided by what they have observed from children who attend regularly - thi…

Role Of Qt's In Children's Centres

As the new academic year starts and we all gear ourselves up for the year ahead it feels to me as if this year is one that has the potential to be fraught with all sorts of difficult decisions and additional times of stress. Most of which will directly affect the children and families benefiting from the services offered by their local children's centres, but also the staff working within them. The ring fenced budgets for Children's centres come to an end in April 2011 and many of us have no idea whether this will also be the time when we will join the increasing number of unemployed teachers. I would be interested to know how many of you on here have been given a clea…

Hi all - our Children's Centre team in our authority has advised us that we need to be baselining ALL children who access services in our centre however short a time they attend!! Has anyone got any really simple, practical ways that we can do this? I have had some ideas but hope someone else out ther is doing something fab already! (I think its crazy and an impossible task to do accurately but it seems to be what will be expected from us as we need to be able to demonstrate impact!!)
