Hi I am currently an Early Years Advisory Teacher based at a children's centre and am looking at the role of the children's centre teacher. I know that this varies from authority to authority and centre to centre. Would any of you wonderful teachers be willing to let me (and possibly another teacher) visit to see good practice? I am based in Reading but can travel. Thank You

I have just taken on a role as an early year’s educator in a children's centre, I was a childminder. I am a little confused and wondered if anyone could shed some light. What is a job role of an early year’s educator? We seem to run a crèche, stay & play and an after school club, are we supposed to do observations on all children or just the ones that fall into the EYFS, do we do observation on the stay & play children who might just turn up once in a blue moon. Can anyone please help I feel I am way over my head!

Just wondered if anyone can help me. Schools are ultimately managed by and accountable to their governing body- what is the equivalent body in a children's centre called or is there not such a thing? Thanks

I have been working as a CCT at a Children's centre since the beginning of September. I am on secondment for 18 months, having previously worked as a Foundation stage teacher for the last 8 years. I am finding it so different (as I knew it would be!!) but also finding it quite hard to adjust to such a different role. Have been into my school a couple of times and was having withdrawl symptoms!! (lots of children, 'teaching'...) I work 2.5 days and run stay and play and messy play sessions. I am also running support groups for childminders and support groups for parents/carers of children with learning difficulties. The things I am finding hard are the fact that ther…

I have been short listed for this post and have to give a 10 minute presentation, and I quote "Please explain your vision as to how you would manage Children's services across 2 Children's Centres. What would be your priorities and what outcomes would you plan to have achieved in the first 12 months." I know that I would like to make sure that the CC's would be well and truly on the map so to speak, one already exists and the second is to be developed; and that even "hard to reach" families feel fully at home with what is on offer - that the individual needs and support that each family wants and needs is there for them. And I would like to think that I would have m…
