Hi there, i have 2 children that i currently mind. They have not had any contact with their mum for 2 years (one child is 2 and the other is 3 and a half). The Mum has just come on the scene again and i would like to be able to support the children and the dad with this situation. The youngest child calls me Mummy (I remind her of my name) and since seeing their mother for the first time this weekend the older child has started to call me mummy. I can understand how confused the children must be as my daughter calls me mummy. I would like to share some books with the children to help them understand their situation a)living with daddy b)meeting mum and getting to know her…

I have a number of over-eights whom I am keen to help manage the risk of walking to and from school. Last year I helped a nine-year-old to show me that she could walk on ahead, (she was already walking independently in the family setting).and this year she is now independent. I did lots of observations, quizzes, agreements and asked the parents' opinion and permission and had them, the child and myself all sign to say they agreed and understood. This year's boys want the independence, but seem neither aware of the risks, nor willing to do the work to prove to me that they are competent. Problem is that my own eight year old is allowed to walk to and from s…

Hello, I am new to the site and am not sure whether this is an appropriate topic for this forum, so please forgive me if it isn't. I have been childminding for 3 years part time in East Cheshire working from my mum's home. However I am intending moving out and renting a property from which to work full time. I need to have some idea as to whether I am likely to have enough income to afford the rents round here. I know that I have had many requests for full time in the past which i have had to turn down so I'm anticipating that I will have significantly more children to look after but I would be grateful if anyone could give me a rough idea as to how many 'children hou…

Hello! I'm coming up to my first OFSTED inspection and having to fill in the Self Evaluation form. I've bought 'Sarah's' ebook which is great but I thought I saw that someone on the forum had kindly offered to share a completed form with members to provide an idea of what is required, but I can't find it now! Any help with this optic would be greatly appreciated. I am a childminder. Regards Zoe Andreae

Hello, I have done a forum search but cannot find what i am looking for. I am hoping to see some examples of comment forms that you would include as part of the learning journey for parents and other family members to write comments in. My mind is a blank at the mo! perhaps something that could be combined with WOW vouchers? thanks in advance

Have just bought a fab children's tool kit for £7.29 (Yes...£7.29!!) from Clas Ohlson. My little boys are loving it. Comes with a tool belt (bit big but still), hammer, 2 screwdrivers, pliers, saw, right angle, steel rule, spirit level, tape measure (bit flimsy) and a pencil. Great value I thought. I also bought a drill brace which I have been looking for for ages (hardware stores only do the power drill range these days) That was £10 so not such a bargain, but I really did want one. Really psyched about getting into some woodwork with the minded children next week. Happy Hammering, Honey

Good morning all. I am a new member. I have been childminding for nearly 3 years and am taking on my first two EYFS children in December. They are 6 months old and 2 years old. I have started doing my medium planning etc and I have found a downloadable grid for the EYFS learning goals. My question is how do I record on it? Sorry if this is a daft question but I have no idea whether I just tick the box, date the box or what. Thanks in advance for any help Michelle
