Hi All Can you tell me do any of you highlight progress sheets. For example red for Autumn, Blue for Winter, etc. This gives an idea to see where the children are. Ofsted want us to know where our children are at each stage if they were to ask us. It is Development Matters from the Eyfs.Thank you Dorinda

Help! New To This And Need Advice!
by Guest- 7 replies

Hi all, I'm currently going through the (long!) process of getting registered as a childminder and I'm finding all the paperwork soooo confusing! What do I need to know for the first Ofsted Registration visit? Do I need policies written up? and if so, which ones? And the legal requirements? What are they? I'm sure I'm looking at them but the EYFS pack is so big my eyes have gone blurry! Any help welcome and thank you in advance.

I am interested to know if anyone uses an 'all about me' booklet for the babies/one year olds in their care. We have quite a comprehensive booklet for our 2-5 year olds but have recently started taking children in the younger age group. Are there any specific questions we need to be asking? This probably comes across as a silly question but I usually work with the older children and have limited experience with 0-1 year olds. Thanks for any help you can offer as I am a bit confused

Hiya one and all, hope youve all enjoyed your hols and such. Im back in the seat and as busy as ever. To add to the mix I had a call few weeks before school started from parent whom needed a nursery run. Fine except the drop off is at 07:20 am and she was in a panic as her nursery doesnt start until 08:00am. Never one to say no, I said I was willing to do M-F but that my rate would be higher before 09:00am. Im charging £5.00. Its a 32mth only boy. As most of you know I have four of my own so mornings are busy to say the least, this little one has been unsettled. This is due to a change in his setting prior to summer break- he had changed rooms in nursery - to one…

Siblings

Hi, I have had some interest shown from a couple with two girls. One goes to school full time and the other one is just under 2. So they would require me to do some drop offs and pick ups for their older daughter and have the younger daughter full time. I'm not quite sure what to charge them, I have said i would do some sort of a discount as they are siblings. Could anybody advise me on how they do it? Thank you

Tax Returns!

Hello all, can any one advise me on what receipts to keep? I have read that you should keep all food receipts - but that would seem like madness, how to divide what the minded children have eaten and what my own family have scoffed?? I charge £1 per day per child for food. Also, do you all charge a mileage for your cars, or keep all receipts, repairs etc? Any other tips on book keeping and the tax return? Thanks Hello_all.doc

Hi, I've been contacted by a lady to look after her child. Her and her partner both work shifts, which can vary alot. She would want me Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, but different hours each week. Looks like it would be no earlier than 11am and no later than 4pm. But i'm really not sure how to charge her as the little boy would be taking up one of my full time under 5's spaces. Can anyone help? Thanks Sarah

Hi everyone, I have my 1st ever visit from a parent next week and just wondered if you could help me come to a decision with the following. * My working hours are 8am - 6pm. If the parent wants to pick the child up after 6pm would you suggest charging extra?? * I'm not going to be providing food only healthy snacks and drinks. If the parent wants me to give the child tea, should i request they bring there own food and possibly warm it up??? * What do must of you charge for late pickup fee's? Think that's all for now lol Thanks

Help, oh wise people!! I have 2 tricky situations.... Child nearly 2yrs old, unmarried parents split up a year ago. Dad has NO contact. Mum doesn't want his details on our registration form at all... I've explained the legal view but she's insistent and getting very upset Says he is biological father and nothing else, has no contact through his own choice, didn't want XXX when they were together and certainly doesn't want XXX now........ knows I have to ask the question but she'd rather give notice than complete his details! It's SO unlikely that the Dad would ever try to collect his child from me that it seems madness to have upset Mum this way - I feel te…
