Hi Knowledgeable Ones, Cait has mentioned tooth brushing routine in a couple of threads recently and I've started this thread to prevent hijacking other's. I have problems with endlessly changing brushes (have the odd parent who can't be relied on to provide regular changes) and have noticed some developed mould over half-term so needed replacing again. I have started to buy really cheap brushes in bulk which really aren't the right size, but needs must. I have always used named toothbrush holders and brushes, rinsed and put away daily. Brush changed each term and holders put through dishwasher. Cait has a Milton sterilising method that I am interested in lear…

I have a summerhouse in my garden which we use for craft and a bit of storage. Out of action for a while now! A blackbird has made her nest on the top shelf. She's so busy - in and out - got to set up a camera in there but can watch her from the kitchen and the playroom. I feel blessed! Honey

Hi All, I am currently in the process of starting up as a registered childminder in the Worcester area. We are converting our garage space into a play area. I will be registering with OFSTED within the next week and currently attending a paediatric first aid course. Would appreciate any tips or information you would feel might benefit me. Thank You

Can anyone please suggest a safe, low, walling material to extend a border close to a play area. I had thought there might be rubberised or recycled plastic material to be found but not found one yet. Cheers, Honey

I am in the mood for a good old re-orgainise. Can I ask how other Childminders (and other practitioners too) organise their files please? For instance, do you keep all the permission slips together, or do you put the permission slips for each child in their own file? I seem to have a mix of both. I think when parents want to ask about something, it looks better to pull out just one file, but for checking that each child has all the required updated bits and pieces it is better to batch. Am thinking Individual files with a tick list of all the components attached - and all children from one family stored together. It wasn't an issue with five children from t…

Hi there, I was reading the forum posts about socket safety devices earlier and it got me to thinking about stairgates. I do not currently have one and I have a 13month old daughter. I don't think that we need one as she had 1 fall down the stair and has never attempted again. She is now able to climb down the stairs well by herself (with supervision). I will be becoming a childminder soon...does this mean I will need to install a stairgate? It is compulsory? I have heard of many people using them to block access to the kitchen/other areas. I honestly feel that i have childproofed well enough and it is unnecessary. Am I being over optimistic/foolish? it is one thing to fe…

I keep annotated photos and long observations on computer file, but I throw out old post-its, backs of envelopes etc after I've added to profile. Beginning to think maybe I shouldn't be. It is evidence after all. I really don't want to be keeping stuff like that. Honey

Eyfs Continuous Provision Plans 1 2

I've just completed what I call a Continuous Provision Plan for nappy changing and toileting routines. I wonder if people might like to have a look. This is in response to a thread started by Juddster on Longterm planning inviting us to share stock plans which I think is a great idea. I've put it in a new thread though because my long term plan is slightly different - in fact, I think lots of people use terms like continuous provision/long term planning but we are alll doing something different - does that make sense?? Anyway I would be grateful for any feedback or constructive criticism - too much detail, not enough etc. as this is my first attempt Many thanks
