Hello Everyone, I have a mom coming to see me on Thursday about her 19 month old daughter. Mom has taken on a job doing shift work. She needs at least one night a week where i can feed the little girl and put her to bed. I can do this in my own home but cannot have her over night as im not registered for over night care. At what time does over night care come in. I have said i can prob work till 9.30pm at night and mthgen she would have to come and collect her to take her home. Is this ok????

Hiya -Still having fun with a family guy whom works shifts and after negotiating a higher fee ( found out he was getting help) he now thinks that he can pay a minimum of twelve hours a week and the hours have gone all over the place. tomorrow for eg He only needs me for one hour !! we are due to sit and discuss but although I have been flexible cant believe he is expecting his 9month old to follow his erractic work pattern. He did say today that his welfare is important (well of course !!) so I am hoping he will see the light and let his wifes work cover the expense ( not sure what she works) Have already looked after this child for 6weeks and have only just signed contra…

One of my mindees who i have had since a baby is leaving this week which was a sad enough occasion on its own but just got text to say she wont be coming as mum has taking a few days off I have looked after her for 5 years and to be honest been more flexible with this mum than most, i dont know what to do as i have 2 other mindees and my own son who have spent the last 5 years together and i had hoped to get the chance to say goodbye properly (ive been on hols for last 2 weeks), but i dont want to push in on the time she has with her as they dont get much chance I am very pleased for this family as they have went through a lot of changes and have now settled i…

Hiya All, yes I know I promised to come back with more good news but its been a rather long week. Firstly last Friday my mindee of fiveyears was taken away to Blooming Schools out if you please. I knew nothing other than the scrap of paper through the door scenario again. thats the startof the saga with me now chasing for payment for insufficient notice. The other wonderful news which I dont feel wonderful about it this. I do hope you are all comfortable and have a glass of something to hand.... Loads of enquiries as I said previously; a singlemum (recently -Feb) of two boys under three ~( 1.5/2.5yrs) came around after a long chat on phone. Loved me and my home…

Hello everyone, I had an interesting enquiry for a place in the preschool I work in today from a prospective parent. She has been using a childminder for a while (didn't specify how long) and has only just thought to look into preschool for her child. As you'd expect at this time of year, and in an area where there's a shortage of preschool places, she's struggling to find anything. Although this child is entitled to 15 funding the childminder has opted out of claiming and is charging £5 per hour whilst the parent has had their tax credits dropped because of the childs entitlement, so is finding herself out of pocket. I have suggested she ask the childminder if she ca…

Hiya ladies, ive been soo busy with the usual stuff and my new mindee that I havent even been on to boast of how well it was going. Anyway after having a lovely restful holiday last week have returned to a call out of the blue yesterday from my mindees mum (sobbing) as she wasnt sure whether she would be needing me as she was moving back to her mums ( central Liverpool and no where near me) due to a break up with here partner. I was so shocked and upset for her and the lo. Said she didnt now what was happening or where she will be and was taking a few days out to sort things out. Rang her a few hours later to check out the detail. upshot is I dont think I will be…

We have a small reference library here at the office for our Prospective and registered Childminders. Today I decided to reorganise it according to the Common Core skills headings. Now I have done so I can see that we have gaps for Transitions, Information Sharing, and Mult-Agency working. I have found some titles on Amazon, but would really appreciate some recommendations. I need some thing easy to read and practical! Many thanks!

A new childminder colleague who is about to be Ofsted Inspected has had precious little assistance from her Support Childminder. About as much as I had from mine four years ago. What are others' experiences of this 'service'? Fe

I wonder if some tidy Childminders could share their afternoon routine with me please. I've sent out questioniers to parents and one of the after-school parents came back with an answer to the question, 'what would you like to change in the setting?'. They answered that they think the kitchen is cluttered and toys and things in walkways are a hazard. I feel awful! OK! I'm not the tidiest person and I don't have much familial support in that area, but I seem to be able to keep things in a safe and hygenic condition during the day. But things really do get out of hand in the afternoons and when parents turn up early they find me stacking the dishwasher and the bench…

Hi I am trying to find out who childminders have used as their confirmer (signs to say yes thats the students work) when studying with the OU, if you are nursery based you will have a manager/co-worker. We work alone so who can we use. Tink69
