Sponsoring A Child
by Guest- 11 replies

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any advise or experience of sponsoring a child in their setting? I am interested in sponsoring a child from Kenya as I currently use a persona doll called MATU who is from Kenya. I thought it might be a nice way to learn more about what its like to live there and also to encourage the children to help those less fortunate than themselves. Also If I did go ahead with it can I put the donation (£15 oer month) down on my expenses? Cheers Marie

Phase 1 And 2 Phonics
by Guest- 7 replies

Hey there. I'm jointly delivering some LA training around Phase 1 and 2 Letter and Sounds in a few weeks. It is for PVIs and childminders. I just wondered whether anyone had any input on what sort of thing they would find useful from such a training. Would it be understanding of phonics, practical games or anything else? Any ideas much appreciated.

I have just received a lovely phonecall from Ofsted (just seeing the number come up on my phone made my heart pound) anyway just checking to see if I have started minding yet as I am newly registered and my first inspection is due in the next couple of months. My brain has now gone into panic mode as I have a long list of things I wanted to have ready and now thinking I will not be ready! It is crazy the effect they have on us. I am not new to inspections as was previously a daycare manager so have been through this process before. My poor family will think I have turned into some strange creature. LOL tink69

Hello I am doing a BA in childhood studies and and my dissertion is on how childminders have found the the implementation and use of the EYFS. I would really like your comments on how it is going for you, comments can be on what you think of the benfits to the child, family and yourself , what changes it has brought about for you and have these been positive or negative. Anything you would like to comment on would be great. Many thanks if you can help

Hello, I am currently in the last year of my BA and I am required to carry out a dissertation of my choice. As a childminder myself, I have chosen to research the impact of the EYFS on childminders. I have created a questionnaire for childminders and would appreciate it if any childminders could complete it and send it back via the personal messaging service. Thank you in advance to anyone who participates childminding_questionnaire_for_disertation.doc

Can I Care For 7 Children Under 8?
by Guest- 4 replies

Could anyone help me with this. What I want to know is if I have an issue of continuity of care would I ever be allowed to care for 7 children under 8 for a few months until the eldest child turns 8. I have heard many conflicting reports, one childminder friend was told by somebody at ofsted that it is a possiblility under the right circumstances but when I have enquired I was told a definate no. I don't need the variation til sept but I want to give the parent involved as much notice as possible if I won't be able to care for her child anymore as childminders in my area can be quite hard to find. Has anyone been granted this variation and what were the reasons wh…
