Quality And Access For All Grant
by Guest- 4 replies
- 1.9k views
We are childminders from Staffordshire trying to obtain access to this funding which has been provided by the government to each council to boost the quality of provision in the PVI sectors. Staffordshire County Council decided childminders were not eligible to apply for this grant. We would be interested to hear what other childminders have managed to claim from their councils and the sort of projects they have managed to fund. If you are from Staffordshire could you let us know what sort of resources you would find useful if you were to apply for funding.

Hi everyone I had a new parent come to visit today and they asked if I had any information they could take home e.g leaflet/prospectus . I know nurseries do this but I don't have anything like that at the moment as have only been minding since Sept 09, so plenty of other paperwork to get organised! Are there any childminders that have one and if so what sort of information have you put in it, How big is it ? Anybody like to share what they have? A big thank-you in advance

I am sure that you have noticed with the children who are going to reception that they are becoming slightly bored. They have been coming to preschool for quite a while. Do any of you do something different with these children, not everyday.Just something that keeps them from running around the prechool from boredom. Dorinda

New Career

After some in depth discussion with my family, a nursery has been put on hold in favour of childminding. I'm tired of working for others who don't share the same ideals. But after doing some initial research through the ncma, I have lots of little niggling questions. Silly ones really, but things like sleeping arrangements - does each child have to have a cot? toilet times - if you're on your own, when do you go? Hopefully this will not be a problem as my husband will be working with me. Medical forms. When becoming a manager I had to have a medical with post natal depression being picked up. Currently my husband is on medication for cholesterol and depression. Will this …

Hi everyone, i recently became accredited and was the one of 2 in our area to start it off, we have had a few glitches regarding planning and how children know what toys/resourses they have access to that are not out!!! Could anyone share any ideas on what medium term planning you do for children who get NEG and also how do you help the children know what resources you have that you cant have out??? Most of my daily toys which every child can play with are stored in the ikea units, i previously used a photo book to show my other items but they want more than this, they suggested that we need the children to be able to have a choice of at least 3 things covering ev…

Hi everyone I am looking to develop my outdoor space now, at the moment it a blank canvas. I have a sand pit and a tuff spot and thats about it. I do have some containers that we will be planting up when the time is right to do so. The outdoor space the children use is a wooden decking area that leads out from the back door. ( We live next door to a large playing field which we also use.) Anybody have any fanatastic ideas and as a childminder my budget is pretty low. Tink69

Online Scrapbooking
by Guest- 5 replies

Hi folks, just wondered if anyone knows whether it is ok to use online scrapbooking , such as smilebox, to communicate photos, obs, eyfs learning goals etc with parents ? I have had a go with loading on some photos and found it so very very easy to collate all the photos, add them in and to simply email them on.... if the parents want to , they can print the scrap book off .. the issues which concern me are firstly, although I need a password to access the scrap book, would the images be secure enough as they are stored by smilebox ?? secondly, would ofsted be ok with me showing them my evidence on the pc or would they need hard copy ?? I am desperately try…

I was wondering how may childminders work successfully with other providers, such as nurseries, daycare or even in relation to CAF. How do childminders know from others what the child is achieving and visa versa so that all parties can plan and provide care and education for the children they all have responsibility for? Do some childminders take in their daily diaries for nurseries to fill out? Do some childminders work with childrens centres and how Would be interested to find out how this is working for everyone
