Forgive me if this has been covered or mentioned , but was reading my Early years Mag when I came across an article reminding childminders that they are now covered by food hygiene regulations and need to keep records of what they do to keep food safe.. Food standards agency has produced a pack to help with this.. Safer Food Better Business for Childminders... ( they say it is conciseand covers the key issues.) get it by email from foodstandards@ecgroup.co.uk Its free Inge

Hi I am just wondering, those childminders who keep scrapbooks/learning journeys for their children, do you have them divided into sections for the areas of learning to make sure all areas are covered? Thanks Tink69

Schemas

Does anyone have any bright ideas for a child with a transporting schema? Today we've been making tracks in the sand and transferring sand to the water tray and vice versa. I've also invested in a supermarket trolley (Toy of course!) and some shopping bags. this is a MASSIVE area for this particular child. He quite happily moves items around the room all day long so I want to provide really stimulating activities for him in and around this area. I'm running low on ideas though!!

Help

Hello Behaviour was an area I used to feel pretty confident in dealing with having worked 1:1 for many years with children with extremely challenging behaviour and SEN. However, I feel completely inadequate tonight and have Ofsted in next week too. I've had a new little girl start in Sept who is lovely, very articulate, lovely parents who are keen to get involved and do lot of lovely things with her. She settled very well, never been anywhere before (is 2 and a half) and parents were quite concerned about how she would settle as group situations seemed to make her anxious. In the first few weeks she squeezed another child (and the cat) affectionately but too hard and t…

Help..... I know I will be getting my first Ofsted visit early in the new year and am concerned with my "parents as Partners" as the family I mind for at the moment, have no interest in engaging with me on this level. I have a daily diary for the baby which they never look at, I have started a learning Journey folder which I share with them and encourage them to add to it but no. It's hard enough to try and and talk to them when they collect the children more interested in telling you what they have been doing! will this be enough to show that I am trying Thanks

Why Do I Always Feel Guilty
by Guest- 8 replies

One of my parents has emailed me to say she thinks her child may have had slapped cheek. I've just phoned all the other parents to let them know their children may have been in contact with it. One mum is pregnant and I know it causes worry for people but why do I feel so guilty. he was only contagious before symptoms appeared and I've got really good hygiene procedures and everyone knows and follows my sickness policy. Does anyone else feel guilty all the time or is it just me

Hi everyone, I have been asked to write a missing child policy so I've had a go and uploaded it. Missing_Child_Policy.doc I would love it if someone could have a look at it and tell me if I have missed anything vital, etc. Thanks in advance.
