Hello, I have been childminding for 15 years and am really upset and angry with the EYFS. I dont find paperwork easy but adore looking after children. I have a visit on Friday from a local eyfs woman who wants to see my paperwork. To be honest i havent got any. Does anyone have anything they are willing to post here that can help me. its the observation and planning stuff thats really getting my goat. I just dont know where to start. i feel like giving up the children and heading to the tills at tesco, only 10% of the fun but so much easier than all this paperwork. help please, I love these children but dont know where to turn to get ready for friday. Than…

I've a 3 year old who is about to start pre-school but is continuing her normal hours with me too. I would normally complete transition records to go to the new pre-school and also the EYFS forms that allow myself and the setting to talk to one another about the child. However this is the first time I've had a child start a pre-school which is not local to me and I don't pick up and drop off from, so to all intents and purposes I have no dealings with the pre-school. As the child will be spending 2 days with each of us it makes sense to have some form of communication but it doesn't seem practical. What do other people do in this situation? Many thanks for any ideas.

I look after a 1 year old and share the child with a another childminder. The other childminder sent child home Thursday because they was very sick, parent collected and made an appt with the doctor. This appointment was made because the child has not been well for a good couple of months with virus', put on antibiotics and kept on a liquid diet upon the advice of the Health Visitor. They was due to come to me today but Mum kept them off because they was screaming and in a lot of pain and took them to the hospital yesterday who diagnosed gastroenteritis and told mum to go to the dr's today. Dr has said that child is ok and not contagious and can return to chi…

In the latest edition of 'Who Minds' there was a letter suggesting we vote on a change of title to better reflect the equal role we have in delivering the EYFS and providing both care and education The following suggestions were made and I'd be really interested to hear what others think: Childcare provider Early Years carer and provider home based childcarer and educator day care supervisor early years provider child day carer family based carer and provider home based child educator and supervisor home based family carer and provider home based early years foundation stage carer and provider

What Parents Really Want

I feel a little unsure over which direction to take my provision in and thought I'd ask some advice and differing opinion from all you helpful and informed people on here After gaining EYPS 2 years ago and implementing the EYFS and various projects I've been involved in etc, etc, my practice has changed and developed a lot - new policies, different planning, more focus on individual children, more involvement from parents - which I felt has been a positive thing. My doubts have come about after a conversation with a parent. I wanted to put some strategies in place to support her child with his social skills as he often became distressed when another child played along…

This is article is in my local paper. I'm not sure if they are members here but thought it was worth celebrating not just that they got 'outstanding' but that the local paper thought it worth writing about. Childminders get Outstanding
