Ofsted requires childminders to have liaison with other EYFS providers to give continuity of a childs learning and development. Does anyone have any ideas on how this can work as verbal is not good enough.

calling all childminders!!! anybody on here that feels they have been unfairly graded or penalised for trying to accomodate to both child and parents needs?? i am currently being investigated due to over lapping slightly on my numbers for an hour at the most 4 days a week occasionally.i am being graded in my ofsted report as inadequate and may have to lose some of my children.just wanted feedback as to how many other people have had similar experiences.this has made me ill and i'm now doubting my duty to my parents and kids. i am aiming to collect as many names as poss to question the whole childminding system.anybody with any views i'd love to hear from you …

A friend of mine who is also a childminder has been asked to provide overnight care for a child who she has minded for a few months now due to changes in parents shifts. As long as Ofsed will let her be registered for this she is wondering how much to charge. I don't know of anyone who does over night minding so thought I would ask you knowledgeable lot as someone normally has an answer. Thanking you in advance

We haven't up til now but I've noticed the NCMA policies have a space for signatures. Now here are my questions... 1. What benefit is there to them being signed by the childminder? 2. I can see that parents signing is evidence (in theory) that they have read them in the event of conflict... BUT... we have a lot of policies and a lot of parents... are we really meant to get every policy signed by every parent and keep and give htem copies?? I did wonder about giving them all a copy and then us keeping one set signed by all the parents... 3. On my contract it states that signing the contract assumes the parent has read and will abide by the policies - is this enough?

Three years ago, i did the childminding course, so have no experience in the eyfs. (i did the course 3 yrs ago as i thought i would childmind straight away, but we moved house and i had a baby so didn't get around to starting it) I was going to childmind all ages, and have put that on my registration papers, which have been sent off now! But I have my ofstead inspection next Tuesday, and am still non the wiser re eyfs. Could i just mind kids 6 and over before and after school? Would it be ok to put leaflets thru doors staing that I could only look after over 6's? Would this put you off? I could also do the school holidays? I could do the eyfs training in a year or so,…
