Letters And Sounds Training
by Guest- 12 replies

I turned out for this course tonight (in the dark, wind and rain, after a 10 hour day! - are you getting the picture?) Despite waiting 5mins in the lobby with 6 others to be let in, I was quite looking forward to some phonics training. Lots of lovely resources, books, games & instruments on show. I thought (wrongly!) that we'd get to practice the sounds, learn the order they're taught etc - basically, expand on the information I get from the Jolly Phonics introduction meeting at school. But - no! They "teach" us to use a sheet of newspaper to play "peepo" with babies, to wave , scrunch and kick it to make noises. They sung nursery rhymes to us (ob…

by Guest- 5 replies

Hello all. I am after picking your brains please! On Monday evenings I lecture an NVQ level 3 group doing child care learning and development. They are a bunch of very lovely ladies! (They will be reading this so I have to say that!!!!! Just kidding) They are nearing the end of their course and we are now going to revisit any areas where they still have worries/ problems! Planning is one of those areas! As there is not one "proper" way to plan I have tried to show them a variety of types of planning and may have actually added to their confusion rather than widening their horizons!! There is much confusion over long, medium and short term plans…

Have just checked Ofsteds website and there are lots of new style reports online .They might be useful for anyone expecting a visit Though from first glance(have not had time to read them yet) they appear to be very brief-Probably because we ve done all the work in the SEF !!! and I have to say they dont appear to do much for selling yourself to prospective parents !! They do though have a list of the grading for each area Will check them out later

This will be a mega-post...... My annual appraisal is due which involves a visit from the co-ordinator but also 3 pages of questions for me to complete I just feel that on top of getting EYFS up & running, completing my SEF and starting my FD this involves paperwork for the sake of paperwork I have 4 scheduled visits + 1 unannounced visit every year. At each of these we discuss how things are going, any good or bad things that have happened & any questions I may have. All recorded and signed for by both parties. All in addition to planning, observing, recording for Ofsted. The 3 page appraisal asks me to list how many Network meetings I…

FULL DOC IS VERY LONG but if you scrol down past point 7 ,,,,,,,, oh it says the last date for consultation ...5th Sept 08 mmmm bit late then lol but it could be interesting to see what the Gov. decide about costs and who to pay www.hm-treasury.gov.uk/media/D/3/tax_credits_no12.pdf but it is VERY LONG if any one else has info or from the NDNA ? also not sure when the Gov. is going to make the changes?
