You may already know of it but its very useful with lots of samples of policies and ideas etc. I originally got my planning sheets from here but they have removed these by the looks as you can now buy a planning book from them. Especially useful to those starting out and needed help building up your portfolio http://www.bromleycma.org.uk/

Hi there i am pregnant and have just started informing my minded childrens parents. I have only been childminding for 2 years so am not clued up on how everything works when your a childminder as previous to doing this i have always worked in nurserys so when i had my 2 boys maternity leave was simple to work out. I wondered when people normally work up till and how long they have off and how maternity pay etc works. I dont really suffer with pregnancy and feel i can keep going till i give birth and straight after i feel ok usually so i don't really want to take too much time off or loose the parents i have. My minded childrens parents are already asking what they obviou…

I've just been speaking to Ofsted and they are saying that by 2010 all childminders will need to have an NVQ3 to be able to continue minding. This is something which I don't want to do as I am hoping to retire within the next 5-10 years so I asked if there would be any allowances made for this but I need to speak to an Ofsted Inspector when I have my next inspection.

It would be interesting to see if the new framework and requirements are actually proving to put people off from doing this job. I know I wouldn't want my home turned into a totally child centred area, with all the money that may be needed to make sure it passed Ofsted requirements.I also know I wouldn't want the amount of paperwork that it engenders. We have a very successful afternoon club at my school which is under severe threat of closure and I know of some of the parents who will face difficulties if this happens. We just can't quite make the numbers add up to be self sufficient. I talked to several of these parent and two had considered childminding and after lookin…

I recieved a letter from Ofsted on Friday giving the reqiurements for the childcare register for childminders.( thanks Ofsted -lots of notice there!!) I m just working my way through it and noticed that it states that when dealing with with a complaint that childminders must inform the parents of the outcome of a complaint within 20 days . Eyfs framework states 28 days Do you think this a printing error or have they moved the goal posts again already ????!!!!!!!

I know with eyfs childminders have to plan to children's interests - which is what we have always done... And we also need to plan for multicultural festivals / celebrations / special days etc which is our long term planning - which again we have always done... But... does anyone have a simple way of getting all this down on paper? I'm needing something that is workable to use every day and not overwhelming. I seem to have a rainforest growing in my house

Hello out there i would really appreciate some help. I registered as a childminder in June and received my certificate stating that i could care for 4 children under 8 and no more than 1 under 5 (as i had at the time two children of my own under five years old). However, due to my son starting full time education in sept (tomorrow) i asked ofsted and was granted a variation in my certificate (recieved new certificate in August). As i have a young daughter 19 months old i requested that i could care for 2 more children (rather than one) under five. My first question is my certificate states that i can now care for no more than 4 children under 8 and no more than 2 can b…
