Hi there Only registered as a childminder in April & had my first Ofsted inspection in Sept (good rating with a lovely, positive report). Am now in the process of registering with my LA to offer nursery education. Anyone gone down this route? Any tips/advice?

Has anyone seen this report? I've just read it and its very worrying http://global-4-lvs-turing.opera-mini.net/hz25-16/2854/0/-1/www.centreforsocialjustice.org.uk/Childcare%2520FINAL_041012.pdf Page 24 has the word agency in brackets after childminder Page 36 talks about registration Page 37 very concerning - it sounds like some agencies are already in place

Dear all HMRC (FREE) E- Learning for Childminders - click on this link to be taken to the HMRC site HMRC have developed a new e-learning tool, advising on tax and national insurance issues in starting your own business, and specifically one for Childminders. It takes between 1 and 2 hours to complete and has links to further advice on the Business Link and HMRC website. The NCMA were consulted throughout the development of the E-Learning Tool and are keen to have Tax advice in an electronic format on their website. Currently, there is a link on the NINCMA website to ‘HMRC Guidance’ http://www.nicma.org...ining-a-quality Although the tool is hosted on the HMRC …

Training

I've worked in childcare for 30 years - as a child minder and as a nursery manager. Have recently gone back to childminding. Have re registered with Ofsted. Despite the fact I have EYPS (and have been registered as a childminder in the past) I have to attend an 8 week mandatory childminding course. I could teach it! What a waste of time and money. Don't misunderstand me - don't mind training - have always made sure I do CPD. Interested in peoples comments.

Transition Report

Hello, I am wondering if you can help me I am sure that last year, I downloaded a fantastic template to use as a transition report, I can not find it filed on my computer (probably on the other, broken one) and I've tried searching through the resources section here but can't find anything Any ideas where to look? Or do any of you have a template you would be willing to share? I have looked after this lad since he was 17 months and he starts reception on the 10th of sept, so now that his profile book is up to date, I want to find an easy way to show the reception teacher where he is developmentally Thanks Helen

Just Wondering If You're All Ready

Ready to start with the new eyfs paperwork etc. in Sept? I have a few new children so have been doing their initial obs using the new framework, will be putting a note into the existing lj's and swap over to the new style in a couple of weeks. In our July newsletters I told the parents about the changes and attached a sheet with the 7 areas of development and what they mean to their child. I think I'm doing it right, how is everyone else doing the change-over?
