Hi everyone Have had my Ofsted visit, got my registration certificate & all ready to go! Hooray!!!! Can anyone advise me on what to charge for a 10year old who needs school holiday care? I have tried looking at local websites and nurseries that offer holiday schemes but unable to find out prices so far........ My standard fees are £3.50 per hour for day care but only charge £3 per hour for wrap around care i.e. before and after school. This is mainly because I live in a village and the primary school offers a choice of breakfast club £2.50 per child then siblings half price and a private nursery also offers wrap around care at £3.25. I have 3 of my…

Hiya all, wondering if any of you have any ideas how to tackle this dilema of mine. I have a little two year old (Polish) whom although loved animals when he started at my setting some four months ago, has developed an increasing fear of my cats ! ( I have four of them ). I have asked his mum if anything has happened which at first she said no ( when I first noticed his discomfort some months ago); Ive mentioned it again as now, although I put them outside, he is hysterical if one of them moves to get up/stretch/ walk past. He wont go into the garden if he sees one of them there despite them being maybe on the fence or a good distance away. Now his mum says that a …

Hi guys Have been approached to look after an 8 month old who's mum is due to start shifts on a 3 week rota. She can give me 12 weeks shifts in advance and needs me one week out of three to cover early shift. She wants me to take the 8 month old & her 4 yr old(reception class) from 7 am, take older daughter to school then baby to nursery. My official opening hours are from 8am however I am flexible. I have 3 of my own children age 10, 9 & 5 so I class before 8am unsociable hours. Any advice on charges? My standard rate is £3.50 per hour. School children before & after school care £2.75 per hour with £1 fee for a light tea. Aaaargghh!

http://www.nurseryworld.co.uk/News/MostRead/1120315/Ofsted-chief-warns-change-childminder-regulations/ Sir Michael also hinted that childminders could be taken out of the Ofsted inspection regulation and inspection process and considered separately from other early years settings, because the cost of registering childminders was high. Sir Michael said, ‘In childminding, the registration process is pretty expensive. We spend a lot of money on it. But we need to think about the future and how we inspect childminding institutions. I don’t think we can carry on doing it as we have been doing. Every time a youngster goes into a childminding setting….two children…that’s uns…
