Hi, my name is Vicky and if you haven't already figured this is my first post. I have been reading the forum for some time but haven't managed to write anything myself yet, usually because I get so engrossed in what you guys have posted it is usually past my bedtime! I have been working in a pre-school for about 18 months, they are desperate for staff to get qualified and so I have started doing a Diploma in pre-school practice course via distance learning and was wondering if there was anyone out there who wanted a study buddy. The support from the NEC isn't great and I could do with someone to talk to! If anyone has done the course I wonder if you could offer me…

Does anyone have any knowledge of any research which does not support parental involvement in young children's learning? I have so much for the opposing argument for my lecture tomorrow but I am really struggling with this part, and every internet search I start comes up with information which supports their involvement. Thanks everyone.

Help Needed! I am thinking about using superheroes as the theme for my research project but I am not sure which direction to take so any suggestions would be helpful. I have though about why boys are more engaged as superheroes and also if 'fighting' play is beneficial - does any one have any other ideas. Thank you KJH

Hello everyone I am delivering some training to 1st year degree students on the welfare requirements and the role of ofsted (riveting stuff I know). Has anyone got any ideas how I can make this topic relevant to their knowledge which will be minimal and also lively and not too off putting for there future in the early years workforce. Thanks

Just applied for the early years foundation for 2010 and I have some question to ask, hope you don't mind. I was just wondering when did you found out if you had been accepted for the Early years foundation course. When did you apply and how quickly did they get back to you? Was it by letter or E-mail Many Thanks

Hi all, I'm having a bit of a moment. I work with a fabulous team of mature experienced staff who have all worked hard over the years to acheive their DPP level 3. We accomodate students from our local regional college and have just had a 16 year old start with us; no previous experience, didn't do childcare at school or at least didn't get graded on it; has 5 gcse results, an A for catering C for english the others ds and Es. i'm curious as to how this person was accepted on a level 3 course without doing her level 2. I'm sure she's very willing and able to learn, but I find it worrying that 2 years down the line she will have the same qualification as all of my coll…

Hello everyone, I am considering researching the following question for my dissertation for my BA(Hons) in Early Years Management ‘Will the employment of a graduate/EYP in every Early Years setting improve quality?’ Currently I am working with:- 1. A teacher who has EYPS in my setting, very experienced, a wealth of knowledge gained from her own children, teaching, nursery nursing (she is also NNEB) and childminding. 2. A member of my staff (level 3) who has 6 years experience and is doing an early years degree with EYPS at Uni on day release. 3. A Psychology graduate with no experience in early years, who is doing EYPS using nurseries for her placement a…
