Team Work
by Guest- 9 replies

Hi guys I'm looking for some advise again!!! I'm doing a piece of coursework and as part of this I need to write 300 words on "working as an effevtive team in a pre-school setting" (though by pre-school they mean 0 - 5). I thought i would break it down into the mini teams, staff/committee, staff/parents, staff/staff, and I thought I would also do staff/children as well. I then aim to talk about the importance of the relationship and the trust requiredbetween them and the need of proper communication. Do you think this sounds alright or have any comments to add. Many thanks Sal

Fast Track
by Guest- 7 replies

Some of you might remember me posting a while back about fast track. Well, I attended my assessment centre last week and I have got a place on the programme. Was really surprised as I found the assessment centre really challenging - competency based interview, numerous written tasks and 2 role plays! It was my idea of hell actually but I managed to get through it and got a place on the programme! Am really excited - can't wait to start after Easter. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice - I really appreciate it.

Paying For Training

Having just read the thread under 'Ofsted' about the increase in registration charges, I just had to say that in Hampshire, we have always recieved free short training courses eg First Aid, health and safety etc etc as well as the usual foundation stage courses............however, having just got our training magazine, it now states that the Governement has cut the funding and that all settings will now have to pay an anual subscription (£400 for us) to recieve training!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry but I think its disgusting that not only do we loose a days pay for attending them but we now have to pay for them aswell!!!! The Government want highly qualified staff in early year…

If you know of any specific stories used in your settings that promote any areas of developement I would be very grateful to hear from you.

Hi just wanted ask what is the memory span for 4-5 year olds? I am thinking of doing 10 minutes micro teaching on memory span for children and doing a test on the adults and tutor at the beginning- similar to kim;s game, where i shall show the group a tray of objects cover it and then get them to recall what they saw. What do you guys think? Thanks Dee x
