Hi everyone I have been dropping into this forum for a couple of years, but have not posted often. Just after a bit of advice really. I have decided to do my dissertation on the transition from reception to year one as I am involved in both classes. I have thought of looking at play and how it can help to ease the transition, and the case for continuing the eyfs into yr1 but am unsure as to which angle to take after that.....any advice or other ideas greatly appreciated!! Thanks Lou

Hi All I am a childminder in my third year doing my Ba (Hons) and at some point early next year I will be undertaking my Dissertation/Independent Enquiry. I am really struggling for ideas as I want my modules to assist me in my research for the final dissertation. Anyone have any ideas............... I thought of outdoor play...... but I also was wondering if i could incorporate Children and Bereavement as this was something that affected my childminding setting this year and there was very little if any info out there to guide me. Does anyone know how I could narrow the field here so that I can focus on an area that is not so broad but workable. As a c…

Can anyone help me out, I have just completed my degree and I would like to start my teacher training. The problem I have is that I dont have good enough grades in Maths English and Science for GCSE, so will have to retake them. I have contacted a local college but they only offer classes which don't fit in with my currant job. Has anyone else had the same problems and if so how have you gone about taking the GCSE. Can you just resit an exam without going to College?? Thanks in advance Kelly

Our Preschool is set in two rooms, I have the older children and three staff have the younger ones. I have tried to explain about SST, have modelled it and talked about it, I've even done some in their room when I've supposedly just been 'passing through'. But I'm not seeing it happening. They think they are, but I'm not seeing it, and if I'm not seeing it, no-one else will either. Can anyone point me to a DVD that they can take home and watch, which may make them see it's not just 'something else' I want them to be doing?

Hi, I would really like to study the top up degree in early years with OU. Does anybody know if there are any government funding options now or have these been stopped. Any advice regarding funding and this course will be very welcome. I have no idea where to start as just returning to early years after a work break. Thanks Net
