Does anyone know if there are a minimum number of hours a candidate must work in a setting to gain NVQ level 3? I ask because we had a volunteer who worked 2 sessions with us from the Autumn term and was doing her NVQ. She left us before Christmas to take on a paid position, but lasted only a few weeks. She asked the Chair at Easter if she could come back to us and she has, but I'm now a bit concerned. She only comes in for 2 hours per week, and has only done 4 hours since Easter, both times when her assessor has been in. She does not contribute to the setting in any way, just comes in to be assessed. This really bothered me today as the assessor was asking me questio…

Effectiveness Of Own Practice

Hi Guys, need your help.. I'm doing Dpp unit 3, and I'm stuck on the last question (P10)! Which is to comment on; "the effectiveness of your own practice in making the pre-school setting a supportive environment" I need to make it around 350 words and I'm running about 300 words short!!!!!! Its the external assignment so there are no guidance notes for this one. I can only think to comment on things I do within the setting myself, like building a rappor with parents, helping with planning, training etc, but a lot of this is covered in the other 9 questions as my tutor told me to reflect on my own practice for those questions too so don't want to …

Diploma In Pre School Practice

Hi everyone I am just coming to the end of unit 3, and was feeling relatively ok about it, until I read back my tutors guidance notes, which said to make sure I included a section on babies, a section on toddlers and a section on pre-schoolers for 'EACH' question!!! Obviously i don't! I have been quite broad with my answers which can relate in most cases to all ages, but haven't always specifically mentioned babies, just 'children' or 'pre-schoolers'. Since reading this advice I've tried to slot in a few comments about babies but to me, they don't really seem that relevant, and a bit random! I'm a TA in a classroom with 3 and 4 year olds, and have little …

Hi, didn't know where to post this so if anyone wishes to relocate it feel free. You may know this already, but I was advised on a recent course that if there are any resources or information on government sites (eg national strategy documents that you find useful or refer to) to make sure that you have downloaded them or printed them off by 31st March as after that they won't be available.
