Hi I have spent the last 2 days trawling the internet looking for companies who offer an online facility for staff to record childrens progress / photos / videos etc which can be securely accessed by parents, but have not come up with much!! The main two i have found is http://www.babysdays.com/ and http://www.interactivelearningdiary.co.uk/Home.aspx Does anyone have any experience of these?? We are 90 place day nursery with approx 110 children attending so need something quite substantial that could manage this. There are a couple of other sites which require iphones / ipads to capture images then to send direct to database, but assume this cannot be …

Planning Format For Reformed Eyfs

Hello everyone I would really appreciate comments re: attached planning format! I have been really struggling to come up with a new planning format to cover the Reformed EYFS. Each week I put up a blank planning sheet on the noticeboard. Staff add their observations in the appropriate area, e.g. CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT (as was) 1. Child X running her fingers over the wet messy mat, says "My fingers are ice skating". Buy shaving foam for tactile play on messy mats - later, add paint and take prints. Of course, we may already have shaving foam in the cupboard, so the child's interests would be followed up immediately - but the activity/obs would still be w…

We have decided to observe so many children each week and plan for their interests/next steps the following week. We have worked it out so all children will be observed/planned for equally over the year. Does this sound ok? Also, this may sound daft but how do you show evidence that a child has 'achieved' their next steps? Thanks

Hi all, Well planning has been really messy this year!! We have been trying to be spontaneous and plan around the children's interests, which has been succesful in some ways. We have found tho that we don't seem to cover all the areas of learning equally of effectively enough. I know this probably won't fit with the proposed changes for next year but I have been thinking of formally planning each area of learning alongside following the childs interests. So 6 areas of learning and 6 half terms would mean we could focus on one area of learning per half term to ensure curriculum coverage and still follow individual interests. We would start in September with PSED and plan …

Weekly Plans....*head In Hands*

I know this is such a popular topic but one that gets such different results each time! Our weekly plans have a focus activity each day and then the different areas underneath with a box to write what to put in that area each morning! My staff come in, look at the plans and put out what goes on what table and in what area! My question is....do you have one thing in each area per week or change the toys/resources each day ie/ whats in the sand/water or what on the small world table & construction area?? Ive done a quick search but can only seem to find reception planning formats...would anyone like to share their Day Nursery plans? (2-4 years old) xx

Hi all. I have been reading with much interest on this forum, information regarding planning and observations. I have managed to download many, many wonderful examples that all you lovely people put on here, for that i will say a HUGE thank you. Without sounding stupid, i am still feeling a bit confused with the best way to organise my planning, observations etc etc. Can anyone recommend a really good book that i could purchase (an up to date version taking into account the revised EYFS) that contains examples of planning, obs and how to put them into practice ? I just want to be really prepared for September but sad to say i feel rather confused at the mome…
