Has anybody had any training yet? If so any thoughts or major changes? Our training isn't until July. After the initial 'it's here' stage it all seems to have calmed down, and in true Early Years style we seemed to have adapted already

Can anybody help with the title of a book. It`s a variation of Goldilocks where she sort of gate crashes baby bear`s party. Eats all food, doesn`t play games properly etc. I think grandma in the end put her in a pie and bakes her. I can see the front cover but can`t remember the author. Its a female author who has also written other children`s books. Thanks

in our setting we have a book split into the areas of development where we will stick relevant obs/photos etc into the correct section of the book for each child. we then have a print out of the development matters to highlight when that dm has been achieved. during our staff meeting on friday i asked all staff to fill the development matters back sheet in as they go along so that we have a clear understanding of where each child development stages are.(as when i went through alot of the books no DM where highlighted at all) i also asked them when they have highlighted the back sheet to put a page number by the side so that you can easily see how the child has achieved …

I know I'm probably a bit late off the mark with this but I've not really been that fussed about the jubilee (no offence) and I'm just looking at what I need to plan for placement next week and the week after and realised I need some good picture books to use to introduce the idea of the queen to the children. Help! I can't think of a single picture book which features her/a queen. Can anyone help me compile a list please?

Hi Please can anyone help. I have just started working with two's. I am the main person in the room and it's my responsibility to do the plans. At the moment i am planning using observations that we have done during the day. Focusing on a few children in a week. I look at the EYFS and if theres areas that they are not covering then i focus on that. I am not sure if this is right or not. The last thing i want to do is let these children down. If children initiate play i.e want other resources out we will run with this and i note this down on my plan. In the EYFS do children have to cover everything? I just begin to think i know what i am doing and then lose my why. H…

I am not sure if this is in the 'right' section - apologies if not! I have a child who has recently joined nursery and whose first language is Polish. He speaks very little English - single words, but beginning to put two words together. I am looking for some good ideas to reflect his needs and culture in terms of the environment and planning; what would Ofsted like to see on the planning and do you have any good ideas/resources for children with English as an additional language? Also, how do you assess? Many thanks!

I am planning a session for parents to introduce them to the concept of learning journals/ journeys- what they are and how they can be involved. I was thinking of making a powerpoint presentation and / or info leaflets and wonder if anyone out there has already done something similar to give me inspiration for a starting point? I have looked in the resources section and done forum searches but haven't found anything - if anyone can help I would be sooooo grateful!
