Hi everyone, I am gradually getting through my foundation degree. My current assignment is about planning and assessing. I have video recorded the child I wish to observe (with parental permission of course!) I am trying to find some ideas for observation sheets. I have a tracking one and time sample but am struggling with a narrative one which should have been straightforward. I have spent several hours but am going round. Has anyone seen any on this site or can suggest topic headings. The dealine is fast approaching. My setting currently only use snapshots. Thank you in advance.

Hi everyone, Can anyone think of something that would have the same effect as cracking an egg? To explain - a hard object, that when a child bashes it has something soft inside that comes out. I really can see the working with one of our children, but I'm not comfy using raw eggs with children. All suggestions welcome, Spiral :-)

Hi We have been told we have got to do progress summaries for all of our children this half-term. Has any one got an example of one we could look at as we have never done them before and are struggling with what to write? Thanks :1b

just wanted to share with you- on World Book day we decided to take our Thurs afternoon group out to the library-having only 6 children and 3 staff we got the bus to the library, i had phoned ahead and the very accomodating ladies were keen to welcome and told a couple of stories and rythmes with the children. We got our library card and also the children used the fancy machines to book out their choices. The children were so delighted with the bus trip -only wish i could bottle the excitement and smiles, we sang there and back ( at one point an elderly lady joined in with us) , they all took up the back seat and were impeccably behaved and sensible , the drivers were p…

Hi, Just a quicky, We are currently looking at tracking systems for pupil progress at our nursery. I am interested in using PRAMS as I would much prefer an electronic system rather than doing it all on paper. My only concern is that I will input all of the data and then with the changes to the EYFS in September, I will have to change everything to fit into the new core areas. Can anyone tell me how PRAMS is going to update its system and if it is better for me to simply hold off using it until September? Thanks Emma

Hi All I have just started an new job as Deputy Manager of a nursery based in the preschool room, I have been looking at the observations and assessments they do on the children and wondered how often people to them. they do a long observation once a term and a end of year report under the six areas, they also write positis and take pictures that are stuck on one piece of paper per area. the folder is split into areas all about me learning intentions observations art work the folders seem very un organised and not in date order in anyway but the staff like them.
