I have just bought some 'Rainbow Talking Boxes' - the type that lets you recorder your own 10 second message into the box and which plays when opened. BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THEM!! Thought they looked a good idea for our topic of 'Boxes'. Has anyone used these boxes and have any good ideas on ways to use them? Any ideas appreciated! Thank you

Hi all I hope you had a good Christmas. I'm just sitting down to some planning and was wandering what ideas people has on starting with a box.... I'm trying to get the children involved, making it child initiated. I thought we could start when they arrive or at circle time with a box in the middle -it could be wrapped or it could have things in it. then I was going to ask who had left it? What could be inside? What could we use it for? then hopefully from the childrens ideas we would have some mini topics to go with. I do have a back up plan of ideas which I have attached. The children are 2-4 so I'm expecting some curiosity I hope!!! Has any one done anythi…

I hope all you clever people can help! Currently we are tracking individual childrens progress through keyworkers observations both of child iniated play and adult led activities .These observations are then transferred into childrens learning journeys and keyworkers then highlight the appropriate development matters statement. Each week keyworkers have "target children" that they plan for either through an enhancement in a continuous provision area or through an adult led activity. The planning can be clearly linked to learning journeys and is based on next steps for children using their interests as a starting point. Keyworkers know their individual children well and a…

Hi, hope to get your thoughts on this I have finally got to the point of not allowing my staff to take learning journey's home to work on, they now stay on site to work on them, or take their obs stickers and the blank file sheets home to stick the stickers too and anotate with next steps to put in the file each week. Learning journey's are now more accessible than ever, out in our cloakroom which we open a few minutes before the end of each session and 10 minutes before, and parents are invited to see them at anytime, and we would never kick a parent out that was looking at one, even if the session had started. Recently we have had a few parents asking to take t…

Hello - I am hoping that someone can suggest some good ideas on helping a child with colour recognition. She is presently naming all colours 'red'; however, she can match red, blue, green and yellow. Any ideas?
