Social Stories

I have 2 children for whom we have been advised to produce some social stories to help them to participate fully in our routines. My problem is that all the resources, including the Carol Gray website, I have looked at seem aimed at older children so I was wondering if anyone on here uses them with 3 year olds and might have an example to start me off.

Hello! I am really struggling with our nursery timetable at the moment and was wondering if anyone would share theirs with me for some inspiration. I've done a bit of searching but not found too much discussion on here. We are a large nursery with 40 children in the morning (along with a 10 place speech and language unit which shares our facilities, especially during continuous provision) we have 2 teachers and 2 nursery nurses, the S&L unit has 2/3 adults but they are not included as part of our ratio. At the moment it flows like this: 8:45-9:15 Children come in, self register and free flow inside. 9:15-9:30 We split into 4 groups for circle time, thi…

Hi Please can anyone out there help me? I am a teacher working in a school nursery and trying to move away from a system of filing work - which is annotated in a file for each child. There is a section for 'home' for parents/children to share with nursery. We have seperate 'observation' books where all our pointed post it notes are kept and used for assessment. I want a simple and easier way of sharing information with parents and get parents to join in with adding observations of their own? I suppose like a learning journal but not in so much depth? Can anyone help if you understand my waffle.... feeling a little stressed today Thanks

I manage a Day Nursery and we have introduced Jolly Phonics with our 3-4 year olds! They absolutely love it and most of the children know all the letter sounds and actions..... My question is....now the children know the sounds, where do i go from here? Do i concentrate on one sound a day/week and go in more depth? or something different? Ps, we are also doing Letters and sounds phase one alongside it!

Can anyone give me any ideas what to include in the bedroom role play area - it is next to the reading area at the moment so we have obviously linked the 2 together. We have 2 beds with blankets and cushions on, a cot, cuddly toys, even a dog basket! We have tried making it cosier by draping fabrics from the walls, adding comfy seating etc but it still doesn't look inviting enough

Please can anyone help? I am looking for a basic concept checklist. I would like to teach basic concepts to an EAL child in my nursery. I would like to buy 'Living Language' by Anne Locke, but cannot locate a copy. So, I wondered if anyone has a list of basic concepts that I could use as a checklist so that I can teach the concepts in the right order. Many thanks! x

Hi how do you keep track of what you have observed in your children's learning journey's and also do you say they have achieved a certain area even if its only been observed once? and how do you keep track of what stage of development each child is in for each area of development. Hope this makes sense and someone can help! Thanks
