Can anyone help..... I am looking at how we are doing our adult led questions at the moment we pluck two questions from our medium term planning every week and use these but am wondering if this is the right way, we plough through these questions each term, should we maybe do one a week and continue to concentrate on that till all children have got it?

Hello I was wondering if anyone could help me out please. We try to involve children in making their own decisions on a daily basis. snack, free play, selecting activities e.t.c In our setting we look after 2-5 year olds. My question is re children's decision making how can we ensure that all capabilities are considered. thank you

I wondered if anyone had any great ideas for my PM lesson observation next week with a KUW focus?? I work in a Nursery with 3-4 years old attached to a Primary school. I was thinking along the lines of an outdoor activity based on using a collection of Autumn leaves, seed etc using magnifying glasses to look closely, talking about the colours etc getting children to talk about what they see etc then perhaps sending them around the outdoor area to collect more interesting/ colourful leaves to add to the collection in a tuff spot mat??? Perhaps the children could then use their favourites in a collage activity???

I have several sites which I use for sourcing free EAL signage but I am drawing a complet blank for the South African Xhosa language. Ideally I would like some signage for simple first words like hello etc and numbers. Neither of the commercial sites I use have this language available nor indeed does my local authority resources website. It is important the child I am working with keeps a good awareness of this language as it is highly likely that she shall return home oneday and will need to communicate with her family members and community over there. Does anyone know of a site or any free resources covering this language at all? I would be eternally grat…

I am almost there with my planning formats (hurray!!!) but I have a query regarding focus activities/next steps. I was wondering, how often do you do these types of activities and how do you decide which children to focus on? The problem I have is that some people are focussing on the same children all the time because their next step observations are giving them something else to think about, however, other children are being left out because it's the same children all the time.

Hi guys, I'm kind of almost there with my lesson plan that i am being observed with on thursday morning. I just need a lttle more brain power than what i have right now.....gne to mush!!!! Its during keyworker time, and based around using musical instruments, developing listening skills. This is my idea (rECEPTION cass by the way) Chn sit in circle, they remind me about the rules etc etc. A variety of musical instruments x2 of each....so that a child has one (tambourine) another child bells, another shakers etc in the centre of the circle are matching instruments. My dilemma is....if i was to shake a matching instrument one of the chn had, then it really wouldn…

Hi All, I've just opened my pre-school and I am very confused about planning, continuous provision and PLODs! Do we have to do all of them? How do you do them? I have been in a school during all of my training and so we planned for themes instead of children's interests. ANY advice would be gratefully recieved! Thanks

Hi - I'm having a bit of a mental block at the mo and wonder if any kind souls could help. Am trying to think of Counting songs but ones that count UP rather than counting back (such as Cheeky Monkeys, speckled frogs, currant buns etc) All I can think of are "1,2,3,4,5 Once I caught a fish alive" and "One potato, two potato" " One two buckle my shoe" . Does anyone have any better suggestions? Many thanks : )

How do you do yours. When do you have time and when do you start. All the children have a eyfs overview sheet showing all the eyfs statements. We then highlight the areas that chidren achieve. we are three weeks in to term and most children still have blank sheets. Do you look at every area and highlight across the board or do you concentrate on one bit each week. Hope this makes sense. Buttercup
