Tracker Plus Books

Hi all, At present we are using the Personal Pathways as a way of tracking the child's progress through the Development Matters but were thinking of using the Tracker Plus books as they look nicer and offer examples of what to look for. However, although we had committee on side, 2 members of the Early Years team visited today and said we were not to use the Tracker Plus books. Surely, the method that we use doesn't matter so long as we are assessing and planning for the children?! Does anyone else use these books and/or have any 'fors and againsts' using them so we can go back to the committee with the full picture while we try to argue our side?!! Th…

Learning Journals-who Gets Them?
by Guest- 10 replies

Hi, Should the learning journals go home with the child at the end of the year with a suggestion that they take them in to show the reception teacher and a prompt to teacher to ask for them... or can we pass them on to school, with parents permission and then school give them back to parents in the Autumn? I know that all our assessment info. will be lost on some of the parents but would be very useful to school. Also not sure that the parents who most need to show the LJs to school will do as they might decide our judgement is 'too low' etc. OHHHHH! I have had such a day of parents. Really struggling with a couple of Mums who will not accept that their child…

Hope someone may be able to help! we are having difficulties with a child who is starting school in sep, This is a very bright child and we extend planning for them carefully (without them realising) the problem is that the child is quite aggressive towards staff often hitting or kicking usually when asked not to do something like push chairs over or trying to break things. we have had our area INCO in and parents but the behaviour plans suggested never seem to work and we're running out of ideas of what to do. other parents have noticed and i'm worried the child will be 'labelled' Some days the child will be great but this is very few and far between. The last thi…

Has anyone done any displays related to 'The Successful Learner' model? We recently had a professional development day with Di Pardoe 'Towards Successful Learning' and now each department needs to begin to put the principles into practice. Any display ideas, suited to nursery, would be very welcome!

In our wonderful resources section here on the Forum we have some great downloadable sheets for continuous provision. Unfortunately the jigsaw puzzle section is not included as a separate section - I know it is really construction but ... Our Development Officer has commented on what we have within our jigsaw puzzles and wants to come back and review this along with all our other areas for when we start in September. I am trying to compile a series of these continuous provision sheets to show that we have thought about each area carefully and what is available to our children. At present we are working on our nursery puzzle rhymes in conjunction with what the ch…
