we are currently looking into our planning system, it seems to work currently, but the paperwork seems a bit long winded. this is all the paperwork currently associated with the planning process --- **we have a floor plan which we use to set out the activites -handy to have as we have different staff working different days, so they can work from the floorplan when setting up **a sheet with 6 areas of learning in boxes -each activity is listed in one of these 'boxes' - this helps us to make sure we have covered all the areas **a tick sheet with all our activites, toys, equipment etc - each activity is ticked -and added to when children access different …

Hi All This may be a topic that will be of interest to many, as I think other people may have concerns. I work in a nursery class in a primary school. Every day we have small group time when our children sit with their key worker. This time has a focus. The teachers write the plans for the week. We may have discussions with our children that are PSRN based, CLL based ( objects in a mystery box) etc. Now the dilema is this. Our children come in, self register and then play in their choosen area of the nursery. Many of them become engaged and engrossed but at 9.30 they are told to stop and go to their groups. It feels wrong to be doing this, and yet I do se…

I am trying to sort out some observation moderation/training for our staff meeting. I can remember looking at an online course which showed a video clip and then asked if you had seen evidence for certain development matters statements. I thought it was on the DFES website but I can't find it now.... Please can anyone help? Thanks

hi when planning or linking observation do you referance the early learning goal or the more specific development stages? e.g for psed sense of community would you put "have an awareness of, and an intrest in, cultural and religious differances"(40-60+) or would you just write the ELG down as " understand that people have differant views cultures and beliefs that need to be treated with respect" thanks

hi all Just wondering how everyone plans and delivers phase one phonics in their nursery? I am never sure if I should have a dedicated phonics 'slot' or try to incorporate activities into the day? I have myself, one full time ta and one in the mornings only. My children come a variety of sessions - some all day every day, some all morning, some all afternoons and some a random mixture! I have tried doing three groups in the morning and two in the afternnon first thing as a group time, but its hard to do things meant for a 'small group' with 13 children in your group (we have 26 children a session), I feel. Just be good to know what eveyone does? Tha…

Does anyone use PLODs in order to aid their planning? If so, do you know who came up with them originally? I've mentioned them in my dissertation but I'm not sure who to credit it to. thank you
