Small Group Time
by Guest- 3 replies

Hi , need to pick someones brain. We have had a challenging bunch this year , very immature , not ready till now for anything except free flow play and one to one focus activities with key workers. However we have at last reached a stage where we want to introduce into our routine small group time , with a groups of around 4/5 dependent on individuals . Im looking for some ideas of how others organise this with pre-schools where the children are in and out and have different patterns of attendance , I was thinking along the lines of a 10/15 minute slot in the session being a calm settled time where all the children participated with an adult , but that gets complicated wh…

Hi I would like to review our OAP procedure, in particular instead of completing IEP's for children with additional needs I would like to be more inclusive and use a single form for each child to record their needs, interests and next steps and wondered if anybody used something similar already that they would be prepared to share?

I have a weekly list for the indoor provision we provide divided into all our 12 areas ie sand, water, paint, small world etc followed by what we will put into each area then what we want to achieve from each of these areas followed by a column for evaluation at the end of the week. I also want to do something similar for the outdoor but in a continuous provision situation if you understand what I mean so I am going to do it on a monthly basis as we don't really change but rather add to it over the period of 4 weeks. I have a list divided into the 6 areas of learning ie communication language and literacy, physical development etc So for instance my activities fo…

I am asking this as 2 years ago we were told by oftsed to compile evidence in our entrance area showing what areas of development we wil cover each week .This was fine as on our medium term plan we selected 12 DM's and chose one each week to focus on based on our termly theme. This DM was written on the top of our weekly planning sheet. Hi all, Just wanted to know how you all do observations on the children when they are doing a focused activity with you. We find it hard to do both. Do you have a simple tick list. Trying to do the activity with the children and write obs on them is difficult. Such as they can use scissors etc. Any suggestions. Thank you Dorinda
