Hi I'm wondering if anyone can help, I will shortly become supervisor at my setting and one thing everyone is asking for me to do is look at our paperwork and simplify it.... Is this possible? Can you change it from setting to setting?

Does anyone know how long you have to keep your planning paperwork? Our cupboards at work (and at home ) are getting full to bursting! Many Thanks

Thought I share how we're planning. As a whole school we have introduced learning walls.Although the advisory teacher didn't think it was suitable for nursery, because of the way we plan/relationships with parents we have been the most successful. We do have a theme title for the half term. The adults brain storm ideas to give us some backbone prior to the holiday. This allows us to gather our personal resources and research trips etc.The first day of the half term with the children we discuss what we already know about the topic and we're off...The scribbed sheet goes on the learning wall in the cloakroom which parents contribute additional things to.Every Monday w…

Hello all, I wondered if anyone can help please? I have a child in my setting whose behaviour is quite challenging. He is bright, with extremely well developed communication skills. He is an only child and is 4. He has always been a little tricky to handle, arguing when asked to do or not to do something for example, but this appears to be escalating recently - we're struggling at pre-school and Mum is struggling at home. He seems to be constantly looking for a reaction from us, if he gets it he will repeat the behaviour, and if he doesn't the behaviour will escalate until we have to react. He seems to enjoy disrupting the play of other children, even when he is invol…

I thought I would sahre with you all a fantastic piece of extended learning from the child that I witnessed yesterday. I was visiting a nursery yesterday and one of the boys, aged 3 1/2 came in wearing a Portugal football shirt. Every member of staff spoke to him about it. At one point we went outside and one of the practitioners organised a football match, because this little boy had worn his football shirt. She split the group into 2 "teams" set up goal posts, there was a goalie in place etc etc. The practitioner spoke to the children all of the time, giving lots of praise. She spoke about different positions, the ref, yellow card and red card, particulalry whe…

Hi all, Just wondered if anyone had an opinions - which I'm sure you do! - or advice - even surer!! which would help me get my head around this.... This is the situation.... My setting is embarrassingly poor at carrying out observations that are more than a couple of lines (while these are valuable I would still like to see some more indepth obs). I have had to carry out some long obs for my FDEY, which I really enjoyed, shared with my colleagues, used to analyse both children's learning and my own practice. They were shared with parents.... which went down very well! and I just think this should be a 'normal' part of all our practice. I suggested…
