Hi, I am currently studying on the EYP course and I need to have a part in the policies. I work in a nursery and am going to write a curriculum policy - does anyone have any examples or any ideas to help me write the curriculum policy? Thanks

Just a query really, hearing things that are happening after ofsteds. Am a maintained nursery in Kent built about 6 years ago when many were being built the same. we use the kitchen for a group to have snack in and cook, however have been told by one nursery that they did the same and were told by ofsted not to use kitchen as they had a kettle, unplugged, on show. Also the medical room was used for storage as we do and they were told to clear it and use it for what it was intended although they did not suggest how to go about taking 2 adults to be with child and then leaving one to suppervise the other 24! has any body else been told this? Hello all, this is my first post so be gentle! I took over as manager of a preschool 4 weeks ago. The existing planning consisted of a long term plan which is the EYFS areas of learning divided into the weeks we are open, so we concentrate on a couple of areas each week, which is fine. Other than that there was just a sheet with an adult led activity for each day. The children's records consisted of a photo album with some annotation (J sticking for example) but no dates. Hi you knowledgeable fantastic bunch, i am part of a Elklan training programme starting in Jan 2011, i have been given a digital camcorder and have to film myself with a child interacting in any situation within the setting, or routine of the day. We will then take them back to our next training session for evaluation and discussion. Any useful tips on filming, recording as i have never done this before would be greatfully received.

Hi everyone Over the summer we had a lot of work done to our setting including the creation of a new outdoor space. Now it is a very narrow piece of land that has a metal fence at either end, the bottom extends out to a small garden area. Now we have three large blackboards outside and soft sponge surface and that is it. I have a few ideas and I am going to consult the children but what is your most valueable resources for outside and why? Hello! Going to start a topic soon about feelings and emotions and am after some help. I have some ideas, such as circle times where the children could hold up a happy/sad face when i give them a story, have a puppet come in and explain that she is sad etc. Planning a topic table with fans of different feelings and emotion, colouring sheets, and taking pictures of the children acting out different emotions.
