Hi everyone, I am hopeful that I can get some advice from you all about the dreaded "planning" subject. I am a leader for a committee run sessional pre-school. I have been working on my planning this weekend. I have all of the childrens next steps, I have notes of their current interests and I have used all of this to plan for the next half term - hopefully up until Christmas leaving many gaps for change in interests and events/occasions etc and spontaneity. What I would like to know - hopefully! is....... how do you all put the childrens next steps in a format that is easily viewed and accessed by all of the staff team whilst also maintaining confidentiali…

Observations - Snap Shot Vs Focussed
by Guest- 11 replies

Hi all, This is the second time I have written this after my rabbit jumped on computer and it all disappeared!!! I was wondering if I could get your opinions on snap shot and focussed observations. I recently visited a setting with an excellent OFSTED to discuss planning as we have been unsure (as I think lots of settings are) of our own planning techniques. We got onto the subject of observations and the Leader said that they do one focussed observation, and the key worker will plan time for this, for each child per term and this informs their next steps for each of the six areas for the following term. However, we have been doing lots of snap shot obs, these may…

Hello everyone this is my first time on this site, so forgive me if I have posted in the wrong place. I am re-organizing my porfolios for the children in the nursery - I have very limited amount of space in the nursery but my advisor sayes I have to have individual files for each child on the premises. I have tried using a scrap book systems but informs me this is not the done thing. I need a format for each child.

Hi I am a teacher trainee, and this time I am based at the nursery. Next week I need to come up with different activities based on woodland creatures. Can anyone suggest any books, exciting activities that I can use with my nursery children. I have some ideas but I am not quite sure whether I am on a right path? Thank you very much in advance!

I am trying look at the planing within my setting ( whilst off work with a broken leg) and would like to add information on to it as to how it links to the children within the setting. We currently plan each day and this is linked more to what as gone well and what activities the children have asked for. We don't have anywhere to show who has asked for these actitives but do write it in the daily evaluation. the setting is due Ofsted soon and I am unsure if this would be enough do you think we should have a space which show which children we are focusing on each day/week and in which area of learning. thank you in advance wellerkaren
