Hi all, We seem to have lost the original Personal Pathway which was previously copied from and the more the pages get photocopied the worse they look! Does anyone have the Child's Personal Pathway version 1 saved on their computer or know where I can order a new hard copy or disk please. Thank you very much.

Hi everyone I am currently undertaking my EYPS and today we got into a discussion. Now i know all settings do things differently. But I have a few questions and would appreciate some input please. 1) Do you do your observations handwritten or do you take the additional time to type them up? - I would consider myself to have failry neat handwriting, it's easy to read and lots of people comment on it. Now a few people have raised issues around my deputies not being so neat. Can I insist on typed observations? 2) What format/layout do you use for observations? - we currently use post it notes but I would like a more structured layout. Today someone mentioned that…

Help With Planning!
by Guest- 5 replies

Ive been asked to pop into a local Childrens centre next week to observe how they conduct a under ones drop in session for children and their parents! They asked me to help them decide on how to plan activities etc....so i was just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction on how to advise them? I manage a day nursery so planning is slightly different. The sessions are for babies under one and only for 1 hour a week, so does the Eyfs come into practice? do they have to observe the children as the parents are there? should the activites be based on the childrens interests? Thanks in advance x

Hi all, We are in the process of changing our learning journeys from files with six sections (one for each of the six areas of learning) to a scrap book type which should be more user friendly for staff, parents and children. Does anyone have examples of letters to parents, info sheets to put inside regarding sharing of information etc. they would be willing to share. I have looked in the resources lib but couldn't find much. Thanking you in anticipation Scottiedog

Childrens Files- When And Where
by Guest- 4 replies

How do PVI work around childrens files? Are staff expected to do them in work time or do you give TOIL if done at home. This has always been a problem but staff want to reduce hours and have a day off every now and again to do the files at home. I am sure you can imagine my response but wondering how managers/EYPS deal with this problem in other settings

Hi, just wondering when you work in a nursery are you supposed to be given time out during the day for writing up observations into childrens folders, planning etc or are you supposed to do it whilst in the room working with the children. Many thanks Jan

What is your opinion on small group time/key person group time in a pre-school setting (2 and 3 year olds)? I am aware that there are a lot of settings that ensure that their adult initiated focus activities are organised in such a way that the key person delivers/plays/supports the activity with their group of children, calling them over to take part. In contrast to this, the setting where I work usually includes the focus activity as part of free play. This has always worked well, where the children choose to take part in an activity in whatever social groupings they feel comfortable in. Quite often aspects of the activity can be taken to the individual and then ada…
