World Art Theme
by Guest- 2 replies

I work in the nursery attached to a primary school and have been asked to think of some ideas we could do in the nursery to get involved in a whole school art themed week based on "World Art". Anyone got any good ideas?? We are loosely doing work around All about Me at the moment and we have started to do some large self portraits. I would like to do some 3D work perhaps using mod-roc but I'm not sure how I could make this fit into "World Art"??

In my new role I will be teaching ICT across the school as well as covering PPA for the EY teacher. Every child has an assessment folder for ICT and I want to do a similar one for EYFS for the reception children. Has anyone got any templates or ideas how I could do this? I downloaded a template from TES to play around with but one of the EY link teachers queried using assessment sheets other than the EYFSP.

Hi All wondered if anyone could share with me how they organise Linking Sounds and Letters work! we are trying to re-organise the way we do everything for September and Linking Sounds and Letters as organised/led activities were a bit of a hit and miss thing last term. We are also having staff cuts for at least the Autumn term so although we are still within ratio I have less adults to go around everything, especially if an emergancy e.g. child needing changing etc.. comes up. We do a lot of speaking and listening as part of our pracitice in individual, small and large groups, we do all the usual singing and stories and mark making etc... but wondered how ot…

They would be just perfect for child height displays... but I can find where I saw them Do they sound familiar to anyone? serached usual companies for photo, display but it just brings up hundreds!!!!!!! thank you in advance. x x

we are designing our outdoor space -at the moment its just tarmac, with a few pots of plants, herbs + veg. we have access to a large garden -so do not need to include anything along those lines in our new area - but what do other settings have that they have found to be a great idea (or any bad ones ?) what would you have if you had the option ? we would like to have an outdoor raised sand pit, some seating, outdoor toy storage etc etc we dont have loads of money to spend -but any ideas can be stored for when we get extra money to spend. cheers !

Hi all this is my first post, though I have followed various threads with interest for a while. I was wondering if anyone knows a song about the seasons. I find that the children I work with have difficulty remembering what we have learnt about the seasons - even my most able child looked blank when in summer I tried to recap the other seasons, and she has been with me for 5 terms! We are in an 'area of social deprivtion' and have a high precentage of special educational needs, but even so, I was disappointed. I find songs or rhymes are a good way to recall that sort of information - so ... Anyone know one? Thanks, Cjules

Im doing home visits in a couple of weeks for the new nursery children, I was thinking about putting a pack together to give the parents and children. Im looking for some leaflets for the parents on how to support their child in speaking and listening and early number and counting activities. Has anyone seen any on the internet or got any I could adapt? Thanks

Does anyone use the pedagogs packs? If so are they worth the money? I really want to try and cut down on the amount of time spent writing up 'the obvious' (if you get my meaning) I was going to make up my own stickers during the hols - but as this would take forever and would be unpaid so I'm looking at other options. At £55 for a set of 30 at first it seems a bit steep- but then again it's only under £2 per child. Just wondered if anyone uses them or are they just gimmicky? We would still do termly long obs etc, but I'm thinking the stickers could give a bit of standardisation to our learning journeys - but then again could become a form of checklists!!!…
