Planning And The Dpp

Hello, I was wondering if any of you could help me. I am a Pre-school leader and currently do the planning for my setting, I plan predominantly around childrens interests. One of my staff is coming to the end of her DPP (level 3), now she has been learning about planning and has been doing a Long term plan - for two years? Medium term planning to include topics for every month???? Has anyone else any experience of this? Understandably she is questioning how come I don't have these sorts of plans in place. However I like to plan around childrens interests and would not feel happy with having fixed topics. Any comments would be much appreciated.

Dealing With Sen In Preschools
by Guest- 5 replies

Hi all, We have a couple of children who seem to have SEN issues. Staff have started doing observations and have invited the speech person in. Could you let me know what they need to do in terms of paperwork? As a teacher I've worked with IEPs, but is it the same at this age, I've heard someone mention play plans, what are they and is this a preschool version of IEP? I'm assuming what we're after is some targets and strategies and then to meet with parents to discuss how we can support. Thanks.

Enrichment Visits
by Guest- 9 replies

We had a wonderful visit yesterday from some owls (if you're in the south west google 'pegasus hawking'), the children were really enthralled by it. We also having fortnightly visits from a yoga lady which the children are loving. Now I'm thinking I'd like to plan an enrichment programme for the summer term, so what else should I try? Does anyone have any good feedback on visitors to their setting that they would recommend to me? I'd like to get some other creatures in, also some other stuff, so I'm after inspiration!

Hi Guys, I want to extend my long term plan into my areas of provision (within my environment), for example what learning experiences the children can get from each area and the 'role of the adult' under the six areas of learning. Does anyone have any examples they are willing to share? Thanks Emma

Calculating Ideas For Nursery
by Guest- 5 replies

Hi all, hope everyone is having a relaxing half term. Just looking at gaps I have in coverage for focus activities and the calculating aspect of PSRN seems to be lacking! I'm therefore trying to plan a focused activity covering this, but the development matters statements seem very tricky for nursery in this area. Think my children will on be only the 16mths! We are doing mini-beasts as a topic, covering spiders next week. Does anyone have any suggestions please? Really struggling for this aspect. Thank you. x

I have to prepare some planning, indoors and out for under 2's in my placement and not quite sure where to start on this! I am thinking about: mark-making with things such as gloop/paint/sticks in soil or thin layers of sand, or tea leaves etc offering things such as cones, pasta, rice etc to spoon from one pot to another; sand and water messy play outside, plus puddle play for the walkers paddling pool full of leaves? stacking play with small boxes a treasure basket with a variety of different resources, perhaps themed, but more concerned to offer the basket in this case! sound boxes and smell boxes to stimulate senses, but what smells are safe for babies?? Can an…

Medium_Term_plan_growing_Summer_2010_forum.doc Just wondered if anyone can help.. I'm in the process of changing the planning formats we have used since the EYFS began. We have found ours has not worked as well as it could. I liked the look of the durham formats and have created a medium term plan. Would anyone be able to share theirs if you are already using the durham formats to help spur me on with what a short term one might look like? Would be ever so grateful. Thanks Faye

Observation Sheets And Timetables
by Guest- 5 replies

Can't believe how quickly these holidays have gone!!!! Had so much planned and running out of time Next term I would like to expand our observation sheets and timetables. We currently use sticky labels to write our obs on and stick them onto A4 sheets (labeled with the 6 areas of learning). They do not show where the children are at the moment and what the next steps are. Also want to revamp our weekly timetable. We have a table with days of the week across the top and sections down the side of page (eg playdough, craft, sand and water etc) and we write what needs to be put out according to children's likes and requests. Would anyone have some examples th…
