Hello, I have recently started at a nursery and was told by the previous teacher that they do not use medium term planning and that it was optional - which I thought was odd as I thought you had to have medium term planning. The teacher advisor has recently told me that I now need to do MTP but cannot use a theme or a topic, so I asked if she just wanted festivals/yearly events going on it or more; she said more - but no theme or topic. Is this right and if so, how easy/hard is it to do MTP without a theme or topic?!? Plus Ofsted were supposed to of arrived before xmas and still haven't come - has this happened to anyone else?!

I have recently joined the forum and have found lots of fantastic ideas for Learning Journals which I am hoping to implement quite soon. What I was wondering though, is how you print your photos for the learning journals. We have always taken lots and then uploaded them to order prints online. Now, we want to print them more often so we can keep the learning journals more up to date. It wouldn't be practical to order them online every week because it would take too long, cost too much in postage and mean a delay in getting them. We have thought about printing our own but the cost of ink puts us off. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for all your help so far…

Development Matters?

Hi everyone I am new to the forum but have already picked up loads of tips and ideas from the discussions. After looking at the threads regarding learning journals, many of you mention using sheets with the development matters on for staff to use as quick references when carrying out observations. What do include on these, is it just area of learning and aspects e.g. P.S.E - Dispositions and attitudes, or do add statements from the relevent age range as well. Am really interested in info on learning journals as we are currently trying to develop ours, if anyone has any pics they can share without issues of confidentiality I would really appreciate it
