We have decided to do a mini topic on ‘transport’ until some signs of spring appear. I’m struggling to think of enhancements to continuous provision, particularly the maths area. Any ideas much appreciated!

Hi all, hope everyone had a nice rest over half term. What topics are people covering this half term? Ours is meant to be 'spring and growth', but I feel it's a little early to begin with snow still on the ground, so looking for something to do for a couple of weeks!

Look Listen Note

Hi I work for Kirklees and we use a document called Look listen and note to score against when collecting evidence of ch's progress, just wondered if any fellow kirklees employees out there who are using it, it basically ( for all of you non kirklees employees) is the EYFS printed out and every time we collect a piece of evidence we have to number against the stage of development. We are told that 2-3 pieces of evidence means that they are secure, but this keeps changing, just finding it hard to ensure we have evidence for all statements ( I have roughly counted there are a total of 250 statements for 30-50 and 40-60 months objectives.) We work really hard and I have …

We are trialling a new format for our profiles at the Playgroup I manage. I am trying to convince my manager that the new approach is valuable. We are now filing photos and observations chronologically as opposed to by area of learning. I just wanted to know what other people do. We have a date sheet with all the aspects on, and then key people add observation dates.

Hello, Im wondering how you all show evidence that planning has been undertook. My manager wants example/sample pieces of childrens work in the planning folder along with photos, where as I thought that the learning journeys would be the evidence along with photos of displays and activities.

Hi all, I have a 14 month old child at my nursery who the staff are concerned about - staff have observed that he does not roll over or lift his head when placed on his stomach and struggles to sit unaided and feel that his development is not progressing 'normally'. Does any one know of a good reference for developmental milestones that I could purchase to refer to in assisting to assess this child in order to decide how to progress with involving the area SENCO and other support workers??? Thanks!

Hi, My colleagues and I sometimes find it tricky to know what is really meant by some of the Development Matters statements in Language for Thinking and Language for Communication. Is there anywhere that you can look to find examples of these descriptors in action? Thanks
