Hi there everyone, Has anyone tried using the Trackers Plus sold by QEd Publications? Their website www.qed.co.com shows sample pages and the pack only costs £6 postage free, but before I order I wonder if anybody has used them and has any comments to make. Thanks. Lesley

Letters And Sounds...

hiya everyone... okay, so, i use letters and sounds with my nursery class, one session each day (15-20 mins) at the moment we are learning about rythmn and rhyme aaaand its not as easy as first thought, haha. im just wondering if i should stay on this aspect until they understand the concept of rhyme or move on and revisit this aspect at a later date? obviously throughout our day we sing nursery rhymes, read rhyming stories, try and encourage silly rhyming names for each other, etc. so im just wondering if its best to move onto the next aspect before the children get too bored of playing games like silly soup that, in all honesty they still arent really under…

This half term, we have just started formally having a letters and sounds session after registration each session with our F1 children. We are covering phase one and listening skills/games at the moment, for example this week using instruments and songs from the singing phonics book. Prior to this, the setting covered anything like this amongst other things in story time/song time at the end of the session. This is now planned in in addition to story time/song time at the end with specific reference to letters and sounds phases. I had to get the staff to see that having it at the start would be beneficial as it would allow children to extend their experiences into …

Hieveryone!I have recently moved and started in a Nursery class! We have been doing the 3 little pigs and I have an observation coming up. I was thinking about sitting the chn down and telling them we have received a letter from the WOlf's mum as he has gone missing and she is really worried. I then want them to make some lost posters and try and get them to describe the wolf. ANy ideas??

Hi, I was wondering if others could share what and how much you write down for each child who has participated in a focused activity? I have tried using a class-list with the LLN written at the top and writing down what each child does using the LLN as a guide but also jotting down any other significant learning. I also evaluate how I think the activity has gone in general on my plan. I have then filed this sheet and looked through them when medium-term planning and for assessment alongside CI obs of course! This half-term I have decided to go back to my old system off jotting any significant learning on sticky labels to stick in their learning journals marked with FA so…

I've recently taken over as Music leader in my school and would like to incorporate more recording of children's performances in order for them to assess their own work and to aid teacher assessment. I think it would be great to have some recorded music evidence as well. We currently have the little yellow hand-held Easispeak microphones, which are easy to use and I like the way you can just use them as a USB and transfer recordings easily onto a computer but the sound quality is not good and especially when recording larger groups of children singing or performing. Can anyone suggest a good device they've seen or used that we might be able to invest in? Thank…

We have recently added an Individual Plan for each child based on their interests. It came from the EYFS disc and is based on the six learning areas. We are planning to do a new plan each term e.g. 3 a year. I just wondered what Individual Plans other people to do their children and how frequently you do a new plan. We are finding it difficult to keep up with all the paperwork for our children's learning journeys and just wondered if any of you were willing to share what you do. Thanks in advance for all the excellent advice this forum gives again and again!

Hello, Does anyone use classroom monitor here? If so how do you find it and what are the strengths and weaknesses? As a nursery as part of a school- the school has taken CM on as a whole so that we can chart their progress from nursery right the way up. I have looked at it, and so far it appears that all of the work that we do in their learning books, will be regurgitated into an online format. Anyone have any helpful tips or how you are getting on with it? Lindsy
