Focused Activity Plans-too Few/

Hello there, Our pre-school has only been open for 2 weeks, lots to get our heads around. Doesn't seem to be enough time for anything at the moment as we are all easing into the routines and the setting. We have to set-up/pack away each day which seems to leave no time for constructive conversation with the staff team in terms of evaluating the day and recording our evaluations on paper. We are probably planning 3/4 adult -initiated activities across a week e.g 1x art, 1 x literacy, 1 x carpet focus, 1 x music/dance focus. the first two would be on offer each day, the last two would probably just happen once or twice. Apart from that it's just the continuous and …

On friday one of my colleagues strode outside calling to some of the children to keep the sand in the sandpit, she was quite cross and the children did as she had asked and my colleague took a bucket of sand back to the sand pit.... not too much of a problem had the children been pointlessly tipping the sand out on the ground BUT what they were actually doing was transporting the sand from the sandpit to the outdoor kitchen where they were adding water, grass, stones, stirring with spoons, sharing out into dishes and 'making soup'. It would have made a wonderful observation and could have been extended in so many ways! It involved children from 2 - 6 so gre…

Examples Of Weekly Planning
by Guest- 9 replies

thought I'd post a thread on examples as I always find it helpful to have ideas and inspiration from everyone. I have been working on this idea/example tonight The small outside boxes will contain each childs interest the next layer will be their learning goals and these will be used to inform the continuous provision enhancements that are the largest inside boxes. Adult direct/led activities will be contained on a separate sheet. I would be most happy with comments And even happier if people could post their own examples

Please can anyone help? I am currently doing the observations for the CACHE assignment for Unit 1 DPP, and I am STUCK (in BIG capitals) on how to do an observation on emotional development, or even which method to chose. I have asked my tutor, but....... (Doesn't help that the child in question doesn't show great emotion and I'm worried that I won't have anything to record!!) Any ideas would be so appreciated

Small Group Time

We have a large preschool room with over 50 children on the register. In spring this number generally rises to about 80. Some children are full day care, some come only mornings, some afternoons, others children attend for sessions of three hours at a time. Some do just one half day a week, some are with us from 7.30am until 6pm every day, others come for various amounts of time between these two extremes. There are six regular staff members (who all work variable shift patterns) and the children are divided into key groups between these staff. The prime responsibility of the key person is to collate information and observations into learning journeys for these ch…

Hello I need help with our outdoor, firstly we have freeflow system which works sometimes, when staff can be bother, i.e don't sit around chatting or sunbathing . I need to set up the garden in the six areas but would like some input on how to go about it. Such as what resources do you need for each area. We have the usual water, sand, painting, we have bikes, but what l want is really a defined area for each learning development with suitable resources.
