Sharing Info Between Settings
by Guest- 4 replies

Hello, I know this topic has been mentioned before but I was wondering whether the shared info is specified anywhere i.e. does it have to be developmental progress? I was wondering if something along the lines of 'what is little Jonny's favourite toy and how well does he interact socially?' would be ok afterall it's still information that is shared. Thoughts gratefully received, ppp

Group Observations
by Guest- 4 replies

We are being asked to undertake observations of groups of children at work/play as well as observations of individuals and learning zones. I haven't really got my head around making this work as smoothly as possible as there seems far too much to do anyway! I just wondered if anyone else does them, and, if so, are they in simple narrative format or in some kind of template form? If the latter, would you be prepared to share? It would be great to have a starting point, at least!

Glass (jam) Jars
by Guest- 18 replies

Hi all, I planned to make beach scenes with my children and was going to put out a note to all parents for child to bring in own jar. But my staff looked horrified when I mentioned it to them as its glass. I see no problem with it as aren't we supposed to teach them about safety and use 'real' things? Let me know your thoughts, Thanks ppp

Hi can any one help me with the problem I am having with children in the preschool. There are some children who just want to run around fight with the children and just cause mayhem. How do you deal with this problem. The main ones are the ones who are going to reception in September, but it is now effecting the little ones as they are being dragged in. Also how do you deal with a child who is bossy with others and is naughty at home. Her mum and nanny wants to talk to me about her behaviour. Please help. Dorinda

This is such a simple question but we are confused how we should be covering! How do you cover specific areas of learning each week/term or dont you? Do you do this as a whole setting or just by individual childrens needs? We used to pick certain ones each term and then cover them each week with a theme now we are not doing themes should we covering by adding resources into our continious provision, ie compare bears in maths area to cover PSRN-sorting and grouping? Or dont we need to pick any at all? We have continious provision sheets in all areas and understand that if they are resourced effectively the children can learn on their own. But we dont see…

Hi I have a child with autism starting in September I already have 2 in the class that will stay with me next year with no support as of yet due to still waiting for a statement(you all know long process). The problem with the child in September is he is not toilet trained in any way and does not know when he goes. Had review to day and said statement might be here for September at a push. Does anyone know the rules and reg if it does with none toilet trained - people have been telling me about need to apply/get some piece of paper or sumthing if changing him everyday and must have a 1:1 before can come into school? not sure how true these statements are. If has…

This term we are looking at road safety (after an inccident with one of our little girls - not in pre-school time, but mum concerned and we felt we could make this a topic for all the children!) anyway, have also found out about something called Beep Beep day! - if from a charity called Brake who help families effected by raod traffic accidents and they help you run a Beep Beep day event, to raise money for their charity and help raise road safety awareness. if you want more info http://www.brake.org.uk Am now trying to think of lots of ideas for planning this term. We are also looking at colours and shapes so have thought about looking at road sign - what colour/sha…
