Help With Planning

I really dis-like the way we plan in our setting, so in need of ideas please. (FYI - we only have a max of 9 children/2-3 staff) We currently have 1 planning sheet which is basically a list of resources for each day. We are supposed to make this list with the children and all staff thinking about each child's interests and next steps - however I usually dont have time to sit down with staff/children to do this so often It's a rushed job over the weekend! Also we are all terrible at remembering to fill in the next steps sheets! So - I think would like a system in place where each key person each week does a "list" of what their key children are interested in and t…

Hi Everyone, Although we still have a topic, it is very 'loose' and open to change at any time. We have been thinking about the children's interests and we have a current trend for talking about dinosaurs and gruffalos. The children come in and their news is that they have met Gruffalos and t-rexs on the way to preschool and its has a knock on effect. It can be hilarious and I look forward to their news. Trouble is a am sitting here trying to write this weeks planning sheet and I have hit a brick wall. Does anyone have any good ideas re: dinos, monsters ot gruffalos, pleeeeeeeeeeeeease?

Hi, I'll keep this short well try to. In my school placement one of the things i have to do is 'collect evidence of two children's progress in reading using the EYFS profile for CLL' What does this mean I'm in reception and hear my two designated children read but what do I have to fill in/write. Got the profile as well but doesn't make any sense. Any help would be great, thank you.

I visit a wide range of day nurseries, preschools and schools and am concerned that people are trying so hard to get their paperwork right at the expense of the environment. I don't often see exciting, creative, "mad" things going on. I am tempted to trial a paperwork free week in a setting and just get people to observe and plan from what they see - but am not sure if I am brave enough to suggest it. Any thoughts or ideas out there? I have also suggested to one place that they do everything outside for a week and the inside becomes the "optional" place that children (and staff) can free-flow into if they choose! I am trying to turn everything upside down and break peo…

Hi Just wondered if anyone could come up with how I can determine the above? I must admit I do struggle to understand myself what the EYFS development matters for this area sometimes mean! Thanks

quick question, how/what opportunities do you provide for children to review and reinvent? http://www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/eyfs/site/4/3.htm if u click on in depth, it is the last point on key messages.
