Preschool Planning

Hi all, I'm here to beg and plead for some of your knowledge and advice. I currently work in a nursery, but enjoy working with the older children and so have been applying for jobs in preschools - to my delight I have been offered an interview for a role, but I'm in a bit of a tizz now, the role is responsible for the planning for the preschool, and while I've done planning for nursery, I haven't done any planning for preschools, and haven't seen any examples to give me some ideas. I'm hoping some of you might be kind enough to offer me some advice, and possibly (if I'm really lucky) some examples to have a look at - I'll be eternally grateful if someone could post up…

Observations

just wondering if anyone has any info about helping team members on child observations. I'm particularly looking for observation prompts. a sheet with key words to help gain useful observations/info rather than "Johny enjoyed painting". observations are so vital yet i find some people find them quiet difficult to do.

For all you guys who work in a private Day nursery- How do the staff find the time to get together and do the monthly topic plans? We have two shifts 7.50-4.00 & 10.20-6.30pm so it is impossible for all the staff to get together regulary to plan for the topics! Ive tried sooooooo many ways to make this work and without staying for a long period after work ( which the staff hate, dont blame them!) i just cant seem to find something that works for everyone.....HELP!!! xx

Hello everyone ! I was just wondering if there were any specific type of observations that should be used for children with delayed speech and language. At present I've been using narrative observations, but I have my area senco coming in May to observe a three year old that has limited speech. I just wanted to make sure that I am doing everything possible to document his speech and language skills. He seems to understand language, as he responds to simple instructions and he sings along to songs at songtime, but he has difficulty expressing his needs. He uses single words and occasionally two word phrases the rest of the time it is noises and gestures he uses to…

I have just read the topic of 'What is in your tuff spot this week?' and it was so fantastic that I thought I would start this one. A focused activity that I did recently was based on the book 'Going on a Bear Hunt'. We set up a few things in our outdoor area: mud in tuff spot, bubble machine (to represent the snow storm), water in another tuff spot and a small tent which was the cave of the bear. We then talked the story through whilst the children experienced each step repeating the phrases from the book. When we got to the cave an actual bear came out!! (it was actually my t.a dressed up). It was a fabulous activity and one member of staff wrote observations down…

Hi I am preparing some activity plans for adult led craft activities - things like painting, collage, making various things such as hats and cards and flags, planting and cooking etc. I was going to link a couple of EYFS learning outcomes to each activity, which is something that I have done in the past. However when I had made a list of all the potential learning opportunities for this type of activity (see attached hopefully) it seemed to me that the learning opportunities were probably more related to how the adult engaged with the child than the activity itself. Is this a reason not to include one or two learning opportunities with craft plans - but rath…
