by Guest- 13 replies

I have to decide whether to replace a member of staff that has left or to use her salary to increase other staff salaries. We are well within ratio even without the extra staff member.Staff are leaving because they can earn more else where but they dont want to have more keychildren each as they say they will not be able to keep up with the paper work. How many key children per full time staff member do you think works? Has anyone else solved this problem Ta

Hi everyone, I'm new to this!!!! I was wondering if anyone could offer my advice or support on the EYFS. I'm a manager in a private day nursery struggling with the eyfs in terms of planning. I have more than 20 girls and more than half of them have or are completing an NVQ, my opinion is that they lack knowledge i gained while studing for my NNEB (I know that not all people who complete an NVQ lack knowledge). could anyone please explain or show me how they deliver the eyfs and could anyone help me with handouts etc so i could do a training session? Please help Thank you for your support Jod x

A Sense Of Community

Hi everyone I have recently found out that I am going to be moderated next term so I am busily making sure that I have enough evidence to support both my nursery assessments and my reception profiles. Does anyone have any ideas for really good "sense of community" and "communities" lessons which will allow me to collect evidence to demonstrate that the children are aware of other's beliefs and also that they should respect these beliefs? Any ideas will be greatly received as I really want to give them lessons and activities that are "real" to them. It's probably important to say that I do not work in a multicultural school where I could invite in parents (which wou…

Hi All Well this is my first ever message on here, i have heard this website is very helpful so i thought i'd join and see if anyone could help me with advice or idea's. I am in the process of changing our nursery planning. Im getting rid of the long term plan, so no more topic's!! In place of that we are going to follow creative thinking which looks at the childrens interests and we will then plan around these. Has anyone implemented this into their setting? How have you done this? What's your feedback?

Hi everyone, This is my first post! Can anyone help? I need some 'development matters' sheets - I have a EYFS disc with them on but when I print they come out half blank. Have tried everything to rectify but can't do it so was wondering if anyone here could help so I can print them out and do yet more work! Or does anyone know where I can download some. I would be so grateful - I've spent so long trying to do them. I need them for ages and stages 22 - 36 months, 30 to 50 and 40 to 60. Many thanks Di

Planning Activity
by Guest- 10 replies

Hi all, I wonder if you could help or give any advice! Next week I am going for an interview for the post of a teacher in a children's centre, that is attached to a school, I am an NQT (finishing this year, 6 weeks left, Eek!!) and for the interview have been told that there will be a planning activity and to bring a proforma I feel comfortable using, this is all. No clues as to the year group I'm planning for or type of activity. I'm pretty nervous and am guessing that the activity they want may be centred around the children in the centre, age range 3 to 5yrs. I no I will have to include staffing and c.provision. Does any one have any ideas on an activity I could …
