Planning Forms For Next Step

Hi All, I have attached a form that I have put together, which I would like your comments on. This is for my keyworkers so they can mark down each half term something the individual child has achieved (This will be the WOW), also they can mark down a difficulty that they see the child having and then the next step to help them succeed. Once the child has succeed a date can be added and a comment. This piece of paper would then stay in the child's profile book. My first question is does anyone do this sort of sheet? Is each half term enough of should it be more regular? I would like some guidance please. Next_step_forms.doc

I have been searching most of the morning for the statements from the EYFS which i have seen all set out in each age range and for each area......I have been to a setting recently and they use this alongside the Unique Child book (Learning Stories book) to track what the children have achieved and to highlight any blank areas. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Jellytots x

Stone Age, Bone Age!

Hi All!! Our preschool children have developed an interest in the stone age and a world without shops/cars/mobile phones etc etc. They are completely mesmerised by the story 'Stone Age, Bone Age' and insist on having it read to them daily. With this in mind, we are trying to think up some activities for them to develop this interest further. Has anybody got any suggestions?? Jellytots

Thinking Outside The Box
by Guest- 4 replies
I'm looking for an experiement for children that involves comparing differences between something other than a plant! I wish to carry out an activity with my class that is 'outside the box' for a course I am doing. The usual experiments with plants are great, however I'm trying to think of something along these lines with something other than a plant. The lessons need to show children comparing results. Thank you in advance for any help and advice you can give. Dori

can anyone help I am looking at changing my initial assessment when a new child starts at our preschool, at the moment I have a really basic one but have found that it doesnt give a good enough assessment starting point. Just recently I have had a large number of three - three and a half year olds starting from other preschools but no matter how much we ask there is no details given by the previous setting so it then takes longer than I would like to get an overview of a childs stage of development so does anyone have any ideas they could share with me or if this has been covered then maybe point me in the right direction thanks Sal
