Hi, I'm in the process of trying to decide what to do about setting targets for the children. We have more or less, moved over to a system which doesn't involve individual next steps - a bit of a mish-mash between ABC's Objective Led Planning and Anna Ephgrave's planning in the moment. HOWEVER, I am required to set children 2 targets for the parents evenings in October and February. I do not want this to provide us with another piece of paper to refer to constantly, so I was thinking of having a target tree. The targets (possibly) be longer term targets of skills to be developed, the tree would be visible to parents and therefore, supported by them (Hopefully!) I am su…

Which DM would you click in 30 to 50 months in maths to evidence a child talking about length and using language of size? I know there is the DM in 22-36 months to do with Lang of size and there is the order 2 items in length in 40-60 months but the 30 to 50 month ones in shape, space and measure are all about shape, aren't they? What do you all do????

We are currently incorporating the Cohort system in to the rest of the nursery setting (we have already began using this system is pre-school) Does anyone know whether the cohort system needs all of the seven areas of the EYFS or just the prime areas when working with under 2's?

Morning all, Now I know that this has been done to death but our planning systems are just not working! We have recently moved over to tapestry and getting to grips with it but we held our first planning meeting last week and I got very little feedback from staff. Now I can appreciate that we have a new cohort and that staff are learning about their new key children but was disappointed to see they could even fill a planning sheet. This led me to thinking that I believe our planning sheet isn't working and needs a revamp. We currently have an a4 sheet on the wall with days of the week along the top and areas of provision down the side. Then a separate sheet for outdoo…

We have a child who will be four at Christmas. Previously he has been on s/l and came in leaps and bounds, going from not talking to 5 or 6 word sentences. This week he has been taken out of nappies by parents and begun potty training, which we are of course fully supporting. Child gets very frustrated often, and really really doesn't like to be told/asked to do something, Will point blank ignore the adult if he doesn't like what he is hearing, and won't help doing things like tidy up time. He wants everything to be completely on his own agenda. We give choices, but he will still ignore the adult. There have been times he has wet himself and he refuses to get change…

Tracking Childrens Development

Can anyone share with me how they track each child's development? I have seen the EYFS Excel template that someone posted on here but unfortunately my computer does not like it and will not let me edit it. If anyone has another way of tracking and has a template it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Clearly we need to do something about the activities/resources/opportunities children are accessing outside. I moved away from formal planning outside as it was just too much paperwork. But now the outside areas seems boring and uninviting! Do you leave permanent resources outside or set up each day? Can anyone explain how they plan for their outdoor environment, and if possible share a planning sheet please? Thank you
